Going out in a bit, we had clouds roll in, so my hopes for this one aren't high.

Thyme, sage, chives & mint come back for me. I can't get Lavender to survive outside & it annoys me because it should be ok. LOL

Don't forget oregano. Once it gets going, it's nigh on impossible to discourage unless you get really mean.

Removed the batteries in my three riding mowers and one old golfcart. Putting the batteries on a shelf down in the basement for winter storage out of the freezing cold. Will charge them up once or twice over winter. Garden work long done, yard work now officially over as well.

Going down to only two cars for the winter that I can get into my garage. Probably take off the insurance on the pickup and my old working car, a 1998 Camry. No need to pay insurance on vehicles I won't use again until next April.

Moved all the planters on our deck closer to the house wall, which allows me to shovel off the snow on the deck. Noticed a couple of plastic planters have cracks in them. So, Dear Wife is going to have to replace them next year. I bought her some nice (expensive) planters that have water reservoirs in the bottom for sub-irrigation, but she insists on top watering anyways. Not going to spend lots of money on those sub-irrigated planters if she has no intention of using them that way.

Thinking about making some small planters for the deck out of pallet wood. I made Dear Wife some nice pallet wood planters for out in the yard, but those would be way too big for the deck. Guess I have all winter to check out some small pallet wood planter ideas. It might be nice to replace all the plastic planters with pallet wood planters. The wooden planters would probably last longer, too, given our freezing winter temps.

I guess I'm ready for a long winter, here. Bought some non-oxy gas for the snowblower. Let it snow...

We're headed for the upper 50s again next week. I swear....

The riding mower is out in the pole barn, and the snowblower needs to come to the house. And the sled for hauling wood from the woodpile to the front porch...

I ended up with a dozen broccoli heads cut before the freeze. We ate some and the rest is tucked away in the freezer. Stocked up on that for a while. Hopefully get some nice side shoots shortly.

Also picked cabbage. Steamed them yesterday and cooked a half-ham. No cooking today! Yay!

Weather has warmed back up some now. Supposed to be close to 70 with nights in the 50's for the weekend. Maybe some rain which we need. Hopefully do some yard work or clean up my messy greenhouse. Will see how motivated I am.
