I never noticed JBs until one year. My hazelnut trees had some. Oh, what's that bug? And in a week, the leaves were skeletonized. They regrew the next year. The JBs came back. I treated with Bt to kill the grubs. Too late.

I didn't get many nuts; the squirrels would get them before they were mature. Dang. They're my favorite tree nut, too.

I have dozens of hazelnut trees and we never get a nut. This year the squirrels also ate all our cherries before they could ripen! I’m thinking of looking for squirrel pie recipes!!!

I'm ordering from them, Sow True Seed, and Seed Savers Exchange. If I can't get it from one of them, I'll look elsewhere, but those three places are my "go to" for seeds.

This right here is my biggest fear. We typically have dozens of squirrels around on any given day. My only hope is that they are distracted by the acorns.

I don't recommend many plants because we all have very different taste but if you haven't tried "Vernissage Black" Tomato and you have the room to do so I would say 100% try a few. I grew several different kinds a few years ago and it outperformed all the other varieties
