What did you do in the garden today?

I pulled up all the carrots from a 5'x7' section of one of my raised beds and got maybe a pound and half or so.

After I washed the carrots I topped that section of the raised bed with about 50 gallons of rich, composted wood chip crumbles that my chickens have been pooping on and scratching in for the last 6 months.

The tile is discontinued and after searching for 4 years, I haven't found anything to coordinate with it. I had just enough left over from 18 years ago for the space that had been under the sink/tower, 14 sqft.
I was't about to tear up all 70 square feet of tile to make the last 40 sq feet match. Besides the laminate side is a dressing area, kind of it's own separate 'room'.

Makes sense. I added a laundry area to an enclosed porch in one of the houses I worked on. I put down vinyl where the washer and dryer sat, the rest of the room got covered with a cheap carpet remnant I found.

No gardening today, but I did have fresh from the soil turnips on the Christmas menu:

I got my canner from my husband for Christmas. I found some solar powered outlets at the home Depot. I told my husband about it and he said we could probably get a couple of them. Having lights up and not paying PGE for them being on, win win.

This is lifeproof waterproof laminate, but the wet areas are all tiled-sink, toilet, shower. So it works.

I don't think this one will make it. I see black on the tip before the green seed. You need to blow up the picture to see it. However, the stem straightened out, it was curled down in a U shape the other day, so I am not sure.

take that pot out of water. it is too much water that kills it. water it lightly every 2-3 days. I used to kill my plants by overwatering them till a friend of mine told me not to.

I transplanted stunted brassicas and a few pea plants. as they survived transplanting I am going to transplant them all. I was very careful not to disturb their roots. so I'll soon be able to plow the poor soil ex garden and plant olive/pomegranate/fig trees.

Partly sunny/cloudy right now. If it stays that way, the green house will warm up.

If I have time this afternoon, I think I'll dig a bucket of weeds out of the garden for the chickens. I haven't had time with the busy-busy of the holiday.
