What did you do in the garden today?

There's sweet onion that are poor keepers, Walla Walla for example
There's bunching onions for green onions.

And there's good keepers, usually yellow that are considered storage onions, like Patterson
The leeks freeze well. The other onions I started are Texas Grana. I’ve never tried these before but they are large yellow onions popular for making onion rings. I love onion rings.

I made chicken Basturma with my 2-year-old rooster's breast meat, but the 2-hour water soak time in the video should be 4 hours in my opinion, it was too salty. However, this is a good way to prepare old chicken, the texture of the meat is better dried than cooked.
Next time, I will use a hunter's brine: 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup Hawaiian salt, garlic, tsp paprika, black pepper mixed with one gallon water and dry it outside in the sun for a day or two in my dry box. I use this hunter's brine recipe to dry fish and for smoke meat. I think it will taste better than this video.

My Baker Creek seeds made it, finally. The first try got to town & the USPS sent it back to them so they had to send me another. :he

Has anyone grown that free blue spice basil?
ETA: I'm not a fan of basil in general. But I like spice & the color blue so it sound tempting. :lau

I looked it up, sounds interesting:
Vigorous plant with dense spikes of light purple flowers enclosed in showy deep purple bracts, making for an especially fine appearance in pots or in the garden. Heavy fragrance with spicy vanilla overtones that makes a pleasant contribution to both fruit salads and savory dishes. The most fragrant basil.

I love to quote myself. :wee
