What did you do in the garden today?

We have a tropical system bearing down on us this weekend. So we’re getting in what blueberries we can before the storm knocks them off. I’ve had friends and neighbors out having them pick all they can for themselves. Last group will be out this afternoon. The deer, wild turkey, and chickens are going to get the rest.

Wow, that's a lot of blueberries! Nice! Hope the storm isn't too severe.

Its most likely to be a lot of rain. Which we need. We had a very wet late winter and early spring, then we jumped into a drought last month and a half. The wet winter loaded up the ground with moisture but its dried out enough now that the plants are just now starting to die back.

For mosquitos I use a fogger at the lake plus mosquito dunks. You can also use a bucket of doom. A 5 gallon bucket with some water, a few dead leaves and 1/4 of a mosquito dunk. The lay their eggs in it but the larva is killed.

I just put plain water in a bucket and when mosquito larva develop I give the bucket to my muscovie ducks. they LOVE them!

I get jealous hearing about rain. Any rain. Generally we have no rain here from late May until November. Every now and again we'll get one or two summer thunderstorms, but they don't drop much rain, usually just lightning so everything catches on fire. 🤷‍♀️

DS is improving. Amazing what a single dose of antibiotics can do. 9 more days.... Gross. I accidently touched the amoxicillin... I'm allergic, just a single little bit and I got hives on my hand, wrist, and somehow on my thigh! 😂

DS and I harvest seeds today. Peas, dill and cilantro. Already planning the fall garden!

@Minanora glad he's feeling better!

I have figured out how to start pickling for the sweets early in morn and finish next morn.
While finishing 12 quarts dd brings in these 😮 how did we miss those yesterday b4 I started? Did they grow suddenly during storm?
How the heck many cuke plants do you have? LOL, every time I look you have jars & jars of pickles. :lau I love it!

I got released from my back surgery restrictions today, which is nice, but told I have a 25 pound weight limit for the rest of my life. :hit Now I can't carry a bag of chicken feed or a 5 gallon bucket of water. That's gonna be tough, but I need to be thankful I'm not in a wheelchair & suck it up.
