What did you do in the garden today?

5:15pm, It is raining Again! Still, a beautiful day off. We had tons of rain yesterday & all night, then had a break with sun today, making it feel like a steambath. I had all birds out. So now the sky got dark & I hear thunder, so I shoo'ed chickens in. Was trying to get the last Guinea in...he's hanging out with the pigeons. The pigeons are flying in a few at a time. Darn...that 1 guinea went into the pigeon section. Gotta chase him out again. Bribe with mealworms lol.

Got the Guineas all in where they belong, they are enjoying mealworms. Half of the pigeons are staying out, enjoying a rain bath.

We had 3 more load 8 bales/rest 1 hour sessions to go with the hay. But on our trip out we saw distant rain (I can see 30 miles) and heard thunder. Change of plans. All 3 loads now,not later.
We got it all in with a stiff breeze and cloud cover and 98°. One minute later, the rain started falling.
100 bales. Two years with of hay almost, from one cutting on one field. Phew
All tucked into the vented curing shed.

Not bad considering the bad years you've had because of the drought... Glad you finally got something good!

Good morning gardeners. I was able to get the dogs out for their first potty break before the skies opened ip. We got 1/4 inch of rain in less than an hour. Now it’s raining off and on. It feels like a tropical rainforest outside. But I was determined to do a walk around the gardens. I picked a few leaves of kale then pruned the tomatoes. Then I went to visit the hillside garden. I picked the first 1/4 pound of blue lake bush beans. I weeded a bit there. My first zucchini is coming along nicely. I did some weeding around the grape vines. And the pumpkin plants are growing bigger. I know I’ll be needing to pick the green beans everyday now until they’re done. I’m not complaining. Have a nice day and stay cool.
This is a peek at the black turtle beans growing.

what are black turtle beans, pole or bush? I tried to grow them a few times but never sprouted.

Good morning gardeners. I managed to get some work accomplished on the littles new expansion run. I dug up about 2 cubic feet of compost and did my best to level the ground out. I need two lengths of 48 inch HC to cover the bottom of the pen. I did get one cut and left it to “relax” overnight. I’m hoping to finish cutting and securing the other piece this morning. The littles aren’t so little anymore. Yesterday late afternoon I was able to get half of the grass mowed in the backyard. I’ll try to finish later today or tomorrow. It looks like this heat is going to get worse before it eases up. Monday’s high is supposed to be 90F and Tuesday 93F. Wah!

I got one piece of HC laid into position in the run and the other piece is cut and ready to install. I’m letting it “rest” for this part of the morning. I picked another 1/4 pound of green beans. My first zucchini is growing bigger. DD just tested positive for Covid, wah! No Sunday dinner this week. Wah!
