What did you do in the garden today?

Too green to be a golden. Maybe a Lodi .... Am trying to think of what the farm store sells, which isn't ever anything fancy. I was going to say Mutsu, which I have seen at the farm stores, but it's a later season apple.
Same... I think the only non-red apples I've ever seen them sell are Golden Delicious and Granny Smith. It's clearly not a Granny Smith. So I'm at a loss.... Mystery apple!

This heat is horrible! Forcasted to be 100° today! Watered the Pumpkin plants that think their Morning Glorys. Tried to bush-hog a pasture, quit because of a flat drive tire. Nine more days and we go on vacation!
I keep watering my pumpkin vines that are just making male flowers as well.

Huzzah for vacation!!! 14 days until RE+ conference for me and then vacation two days later for our family.

Today I decided to let the tomatoes peter out. Most are struggling anyway and with us going away for 11 days, I'd rather not worry about them. I'll be buying seed garlic as soon as possible. Regardless of vacation.

I picked more tomatoes today and watered things.

I considered hand pollinating but didn't. It seems like the first few female blossoms don't pollinate, then they start kicking into gear. Whenever it's warm enough I see bumblebees in the flowers.

Thanks. I'm going to follow the instructions on this article:
https://peppergeek.com/fermented-hot-sauce/

I'm going to wait until the jalapenos in my garden are big enough to use, then add them to some Hatch chili peppers. Probably throw in a chopped carrot and some onion and garlic too.
This past cool week, had to hand pollinate. Bees slept in.

I chopped up a 20lbs Black Winter Melon into 5-inch sections and wrapped them in the large size plastic film from Costco and froze them. I was wondering if the seeds from those frozen sections of Black winter melon still be viable, or would they die?
I used to keep my seeds in the freezer. They grew just fine. Kind of like a volunteer growing out of your compost pile that froze during winter.

More on my apple mystery...

I went ahead and picked one of the 2 remaining apples. The last one is too high to reach without a ladder.

The yellow-green apple is from my mystery tree.

The pink-red one is a Pink Lady I bought on Sunday at the store.

So... Clearly different. Wondering if my mystery tree is a Golden Delicious? 🤔 The apple I tasted this morning is sweet but not as sweet as a Pink Lady.

Maybe I'll try to leave the last apple on the tree until October and see if it turns pink?

Try finding it here.

Picked collards and kale 2 days ago, blanched and froze three gallon bags full today. Found some late season raspberries and ate them, had to water everything, even with the cool weather and rain a few days ago. Been picking zucchini and peaches, and DH hinted that it would be great to have a peach cobbler sitting around. The one I had made 2 days ago got demolished. Trying to keep flowers picked so they keep blooming until they freeze. Have one last potato plant to dig.
Saw a raccoon on my cam eating grapes up on my arbor at 4 am. Put pruned marionberry vines around the posts and grapevine. Let's see if it tries to climb back up there. Little bandit!

You and me are sorta on the same schedule. I have a week long business trip in mid-Sept followed by a cruise the week after... Can't get here soon enough! 😊
