What did you do in the garden today?

We finally got some rain yesterday. The tomatoes are still alive but not one bloom and all I can think is they hate the blazing heat too.
Got 1 cucumber off new vines!
Trying to pickle some eggs we got and I realized you can’t shell boiled fresh eggs wo them coming apart.
I decided to let the vinegar do work of dissolving shell and now I don’t want to put lid on bc of all bubbles/pressure build up! 😱
Best way to shell hard-boiled eggs:

I use a travel mug with a tight fitting lid. One egg in bottom, add water halfway up the egg, put on lid tightly and shake 4-5 times. Most of the time the eggshell will peel off easily.

I ended up with 5 pints of sweet spicy relish. Plus a couple of tablespoons to sample. Looks like all the lids sealed too.

I'm way behind, again! We had a huge storm and lost our power and internet for several days.

DH just built me 2 new raised-bed gardens - 5x10 each. I bought run-of-the-mill potting soil (after filling the bottoms of the beds with branches and yard debris), and will top that with chicken manure and yard waste compost. The compost is still developing, but I'm thinking that if I add it now, it'll have time and elements of weather to finish by spring. Does that sound like a good plan?

For two pounds I did 1.5 Tbsp of salt. 6 Tbsp of sugar, I did half light brown and half granulated cane. 6 cloves of garlic.
I finally started to ferment my peppers for making sauce. Not much to it, about 400 grams of Hatch chilis and a single habanero pepper. Plus 13.5 grams canning salt, a little over 3% by weight.
