What did you do in the garden today?

Milk thistle and sow thistle are different plants here in Washington, USA.

And here. The thistle pictured is a beautiful plant and is used in teas. There was a large, bushy pink thistle up on the hill in the local walking area. The track loops around and local landcare has been actually seeding them in the centre regeneration areas to increase butterflies and other insects. Plenty of ppl were climbing the hill to take pictures lol. Some were calling it the briar patch.

Yeah, they are actually perennial plants in warm climates. You can overwinter pepper plants too.

I tried to over-winter 2 different pepper plants in 5 gallon buckets. Didn't work. They went downhill very slowly over the winter and were fully dead by March.
Yeah, I’ve tried peppers twice now and it didn’t work either time. One Youtube video said they needed to be kept cooler and leaf-free to keep them dormant so I might try that once I get my harvest off of them. (Previous years they were room temperature and under a grow light.)

I want it to work, I just haven’t had good results with it.

I left my pineapple plant in the pot after I cut its fruit off and I kept it moist for a couple of months. I noticed that it didn't die and grew a new side crown.

I have tons of both.
You're Greek ... I'm not surprised - lucky you! There is a lot, a real lot, to be said of those places and people who do not concider these plants unwanted weeds. I get very strange looks from my young lawn mower guy when I don't give him permission to spray the 'weeds.' It is said (by herbalists) that the plants most beneficial to us are those that are most prevalent.

I watered the big garden again. The Fall “crops” are doing well except for the kale. It looks like I may get 4 or 5 Brussel sprout plants to develop. However, the temperatures will be hitting the low 80’s today and for the next week. No rain either. The tomatoes are nearly done and I’m waiting for the last of the beans to dry. I picked a small handful of grape and chocolate cherry tomatoes along with 2 strawberries.

Dry here too, finally. They are now saying they'll be issuing a drought monitor this week. How quickly we went from sopping wet to too dry.

I'm headed out to a music festival with my girlfriends so I watered the garden really well. Thinned the carrots. Got some fish emulsion in the greens Greenstalk. Weeded a ton yesterday.

I need to start collecting zinnia & cosmos seeds when I get back. My nasturtiums have already reseeded themselves & are looking good. :lau I don't think I'll bother with the borage again, not my favorite, it wasn't pushy enough so it succumbed to the weeds.

Our Arizona group on here started a seed box that has gone around our state 3x. It is now retired, but I still take it to all of our events. You can find the events on our website. And check the map, maybe ya'all have a Gardening Exchange Stand in your neighborhood. Freeplantngardenstands.org
