No, I've never heard of adding calcium carbide... I'll have to look this up!Once the leaves get big, they should fruit. Have you tried Calcium Carbine? I drop around six pieces in the hole around the top leaves and drizzle water a little at a time to make a mist or fog. After that it takes a month or two for it to flower. I also, had to apply a fruiting or flowering type fertilizer to support the flowering or fruiting stage. However, on my latest attempt on 4 plants only 2 flowered, probably because I put too much water and washed it out. I tried again on the 2 that didn't flower and one of them just started to flower. I'll give the last one a week or two before trying again.
