What did you do in the garden today?

Clouding up might rain about 3 maybe sooner. First look at forecast showed rain about 2 AM. Different forecast every time I check. I better go out and start picking up my tools.

We are descending into Los Angeles... I get to see my chickens and my garden for the first time in 11 days. I have no idea what to expect. Hopefully the drive home is easy. 4 more hours!!! Have to fill up the rear left tire on the car in the parking lot though. Picked up a screw while we were in LA.

It is hot here today. Working on the "list" lol.

I picked some veggies. Looks like 1 okra pod got pretty big. I opened it up & gave the "pearls" to the chickens. I will cook up the other 3.

Wow, I never knew this! Interesting.

After more than a month we are finally getting rain. It started early this morning and I have over 1/2 inch of rain in the rain gauge. My fall crops are looking very happy.

We got nothing, I'm glad you did! Not complaining though, it's cool, cloudy & breezy - good working weather.

I was on a mission to clean out the shed of all my old camping gear this am & yay, it's done. A bit sad, but I'll never camp in a tent again so why hang on to it? Now at least I can easily get to the garden & chicken stuff.

I vacuumed sealed 5 gallons of green beans. I'm sick the them poking thru the bags so I left them in the open gallon ziplocks, then put them in the vacuum bags, worked well!

We are still eating squash we picked before the plants got pulled. I have so much, I shared with the chickens today. One of the squash plants was odd, it was more orange-yellow & darn it was hard, almost like a pumpkin. Here is a pic of it, next to the normal yellow squash.



I got some pics of chickens enjoying it. Everyone is molting grumpy, but they all attacked the squash treats.


After busily sunbathing, preening, & then eating squash...time for a nap to break up the exhausting day!

Too Old ...mature squash

Odd plant, they were small squash, too. I guess they did not get larger, just older. The other plants' squash were nice & tender, no matter how big they grew. I prefer picking them smaller, but DH wants mammoth squash.

Got up and had coffee, took a shower, got to town for gas, drinks and then went and got lunch. Went to my husband's mother's house for lunch with her (SOS) every weekend. Went to Walmart and did the grocery shopping. Now sitting at our son and daughter in laws place and then we unfortunately have to go back to husband's mother's house. Hopefully after that we can go home so that I can get some dishes and laundry done. Gotta check on the chickens and get them water and food. Have laundry to fold and put away. I'm tired just posting this.

Afternoon all. DH has a broken middle knuckle on his hand, surgery next week, so is unable to perform his usual chores and not any help outside. Daughter is in a boot while waiting for surgery on an ankle in a few weeks so she isn’t any help either. No time for anything outside other than watering right now. I hope you’re all well, will try to get caught up soon.
