What did you do in the garden today?

Hey all. We got a bit of rain, not much, but I didn't water this weekend.

Pulled out the green beans. It looks naked out there!

I was going to pull the peppers, but there are so many still growing. I was going to pull the 2 wooden beds on the left out completely (they're rotten), but the bees were every where so I didn't have the heart. It can all wait.

Feeling a little sick *cough cough*, going to make Christmas jam tomorrow. 😬

Pumpkin Jam

2 good sized pumpkin
5 oranges
6 lemons
1 fresh ginger minced
1 red chili minced
1 1/2 lb granulated sugar

Cut the pumpkin into chunks and cut off the peel, now cut into pieces about an hour 2 inch square and toss into a large pot/preserving pan.
Slice the oranges and lemons into small pieces (peel and the inner flesh too) and add these to the pan.

Cut the skin from the fresh ginger root and grate it into the pan. Now finely chop the chili (remove the seeds, we don’t want to go too over the top here) and toss this in too.

Add 1 pint of water and bring this to the boil. Now lower the heat and let it simmer away for 40 minutes, or until all the citrus peel is very soft. The pumpkin will be really soft by then too.
Add the sugar and stir until it has completely dissolved. Raise the heat and bring it to the boil and keep it bubbling madly until it has really thickened so that when you put a spoonful on a saucer and run your finger (let it cool first!) through it, you get a clear channel and it doesn’t flow back together again.
Spoon into sterilized jars and pop on the lid.

It's called a minute pirate bug, and they are clueless assholes. Actually they're just looking for water.
They live on soybeans and when the beans are harvested, they go for ANYTHING they think might have water and take a sample. When you don't ooze forth water, they go off. BUT DANG they HURT.
They sure do hurt. I felt a bite & looked, expecting to see a horsefly. That little thing?!

I was thinking, bet if I enlarge it a lot, it might look like a miniature Tasmanian devil...little body, big mouth...better to bite ya with 😆

Yum, sounds so good!

Morning. I have good news. About 6 months ago I developed neuropathy in my toes due to diabetes. Doctor prescribed gabapentin. Did not help and the list of side effects was scary. I quit taking it. I recently saw a YouTube video about vitamin B1 helping neuropathy. Bought some Friday and have been taking it. My neuropathy is almost gone. Worked fast.
