What did you do in the garden today?

Mouse catches have slowed down. I hope that means there are fewer mice. The repeating traps are the winners with the most catches. The Tin cat is the best one so far and the Tom cat has yet to catch one. It is plastic. I did not intend to buy that one. Farm and Fleet had a sale on Tin cat for 9.99. I grabbed what I thought was the last one. It was a Tom cat. Anyway they let me have it for 9.99 since they put it in the Tin cat slot.
I put a Tin cat in my cart at Amazon . they had it for 9.99 also. What did you put in it for bait? Don't have problems yet, but its only a matter of time before they try to winter over in the coop.

Now that the 2nd greenhouse is planted, I'm trying to decide what to do with the first.

The only thing that has survived in there is the rosemary. Everything else has been decimated by the mice. Once I got the new coop built and the chickens out of the greenhouse I figured it would be fine, but apparently not.

I was thinking about hydroponics. I do Kratke. I could hang downspout hydro systems from the ceiling and use the floor for things the mice won't eat. I think oregano and thyme might work.

I use Tom cat attractant and reapply a dot of it as needed.

not only some of my coops flooded but marten or similar killed one of my young muscovie drakes. we had strong winds that probably brought smell of an animal opposite of where my dogs were. I have to build a dog shelter next to my coops and keep my dogs contained there if something like that is possible.

I use black oil sunflower seeds. They love those seeds. If you find empty shells in the trap and no mouse that means it got out. That is how I knew they were getting out of the J T Eaton traps.

I stuffed one strawberry greenstalk with straw, wrapped it with burlap, put a frost cover over it & rolled it next to the house. Looks like a great place for mice to live. LOL.

The other strawberry GS I moved onto a plastic pallet & buried in leaves in the garden. We'll see which one does better.

FOUND MY MISSING HEN! That little turd is sitting on a hidden nest outside next to DH's shop. It is a frigging miracle that a critter hasn't gotten her. She is sitting on nearly a dozen eggs. Some of them smelled rotten. I'll have to wait until after dark and catch her with the net.

I haven't done anything with mine yet... Of course the coldest it's been is the upper 20s so far...

What minimum temperature do you think strawberries can tolerate in a Greenstalk?
