What did you do in the garden today?

peanut butter here contains too much sugar. even mice don't like it.

severe drought here. as it rained a bit I didn't water garden and some lettuce went to seed (or was on the way).

Maybe try adding some corn

I used them for bait and immediately had 3 caught

I’ll have to keep that in mind for conventional traps, though I don’t trust my willpower not to eat them myself.

I need to take the time to take photos of the garden and orchard. I may get out there today to do so.

On Wednesday we released some parasitic wasps into the garden. My DS found a cutworm caterpillar and he wanted to raise it up to a butterfly... I agreed, so long as we gave it to the chickens to eat after. I tried to get him to feed it to the chickens as a caterpillar, but he refused.

Nature must have known I didn't want that bug back in my garden. After feeding "Mr wormy" for just over a week, he hatched out about 15 wasp babies. The child was very upset but I encouraged him to get excited about these new good bugs that we didn't need to feed to the chickens. He was so excited when they emerged from their cocoons. . He got to help me release them. It's one less bug he's afraid of now.

Yesterday I watered my lettuce and cabbage in the cold frame. I will be picking lettuce very soon! I could harvest now but I want to make a big salad on Sunday.

I know. I only use glue traps because most of the time they can't escape. I did just have to fight with one that was only caught by it's tail. Mouse 0 Amy 1. LOL
