What did you do in the garden today?

The shopping took longer than expected but I’m all finished with that. I haven’t looked at the egg prices in the grocery store for several months so today I took a peek. Good golly, they’re running $6.50 to $7.50 a dozen and there’s a two carton limit on those. I’m happy I was able to contribute a little surplus to my local food pantry. The mulch I bought for the front yard is still in my car. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to put it on the ground so I’m thinking it will stay dry if I don’t unload it until I can use it. I was able to go look at my grapevines this morning after picking more asparagus. The vines are growing like crazy and getting leaves. They’re a little difficult to see right now in the pictures but if you enlarge you and can see them.

Are grapes difficult to grow and maintain? How about wildlife?

I’m in north central Massachusetts. This is a great climate to grow grapes in. I’m growing Concord grapes which were developed here. I’ve not had any problem with the local wildlife here so far. I have a heavy growth of oregano, lavender and mustard around the grapevines that deter the freeloaders. There’s enough room for the wildlife to look for easier pickings. I only use organic fertilizers and haven’t had any bad bugs issues with the grapes. Fingers crossed.

I have little time to be in the garden today, other stuff is priority today.

But I would like to say that I love being in the garden, I feel so happier, and healthier.

I get to hugs my chickens and my silver laced Wyandotte is reaching her max tolerance of me..........she constantly telling me that she is not a lap chicken, let go of me... but she is so soft to hold. ❤️

does anyone do sweet potatoes?
I planted some last year but didn't really get a bunch of big ones but I did get some. I planted them in pots this year so I am hoping that I get a good crop because I am giving them to my mom and daughter in law. I don't eat them but I have a green thumb so it's pretty much up to me to do the garden for everyone in the family.
