What did you do in the garden today?

I was going to work on the deer fence but got sidetracked...

I need to remove the two year old rotted woodchip bedding from about 250 square feet of chicken run. I'm slapping together some old pallets to make a compost enclosure. Three sided is the plan, but I might add a fourth later. It's right next to the garden so it'll be convenient.

I bought 3 bales of straw to use in the runs in place of the woodchips. I'd prefer fresh woodchips but my pile is getting low, and it's pretty well rotted already.
Have you checked about free wood chips delivered? chipdrop.com, Asplundh, tree companies, arborist. We are trying to have more free ones delivered this year.

Reseeded my sweet corn today... Hopefully we won't get any more flash flooding... :fl

Transplanted some lambs ear outside so I hope it actually rains tomorrow like it's supposed to.... Also seeded some purslane. Every time I try to grow it, the chickens, goats, and horses eat it to a nub... 😂

Sooo.... Out of the 13-14 eggs I set in the incubator in March, 7 hatched. And it appears 5 of them are roosters. 🙄 Just my luck... They are outgrowing the brooder in the main coop so I moved the 5 baby roos (5 weeks old today) into the bachelor pen. I have a segregation pen in there where I put them yesterday and today so they can be "introduced" to the 7 adult roos in there. I can't keep them in the segregation pen at night because a determined predator might be able to dig under the fence... So I've had to resort to putting the 5 chicks in my 18" x 24" quarantine pen just for the night and then move them back to the seg pen during the day. Anyway, this evening most of the adult roos have gone inside the coop for the night so I let the babies out to explore the bachelor yard. My alpha bachelor came out and was checking out the babies. Other than one peck, he was very gentle with them... It would be awesome if he adopted them and cared for them... I've heard of roosters who will do that... Might even save him from the butcher block, if he did... Not getting my hopes up though.

I weeded with delight the ENTIRE garden because of this new amazing tool! 🥰 The best. And found baby twin bunny's that I'm sure are the culprits of eating my young spinach daily. So cute. I kept the one that would let me and it was so chill I put it in my brooder with a lonely 1 day old chick premature. They are ok so far.

Thank you for the tip, @C Siena ! I got signed up and a request is put in.
Great. Another shared the info with us and we want to pass it on.
The Garden is coming along. The cabbages, onions, garlic, kale and carrots are in the ground. A little to soon for the rest, but soon!
