What did you do in the garden today?

Anyone else suffer that dark period between planting and sprouting where you start to question whether anything will actually sprout and grow?
Yup, even if the seeds from the same Marconi pepper package took over a month to sprout, I start giving up after a month. I also have some Red Lady papaya seeds sitting in the dark for a month. I just asked Copilot and it said papaya seeds don't require light to sprout. It's been so long, I even forgot what is in the other Jiffy pots. Based on my recent experiences, they tend to sprout after I give up on them, so this time the suffering is worst.

Now that brings up another tidbit of information. I wasn’t aware that the time of the year had any effect on broodiness. These BO pullets are will not turn 1 Y.O. until July 2nd and this will be their first full summer with us. I was always of the understanding that broodiness was present and displayed roughly around the same time as egg laying began. These gals have been laying consistently for about 5 months.
I had 4 BO’s originally. Talk about broodiness. And just downright crazy with their broody cackle. Lol! Crazy little hens.

I don't know. The ones I'm getting next week are the first I ever ordered by mail. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
so, the chicks made it to Tacoma and left the facility at 10:38 BUT!!
the Seabeck post office only gets one truck a day, 7:30am
so my chicks are??joy riding all over, all day and all night.
Poor confused babies

You bet! I planted Sugar Baby watermelons and STILL don't know if they came up or not. In my frustration, I fear that I've done something unforgivable... I planted some cantaloupes in their place! At least THEY have come up now. Or.... now, maybe it's the watermelons???

Picturing joy riding chicks with a hijacked postal truck.......like the sea creatures in Finding Dory . Suppose they'll go to Jack in the Box? Or chick-fil-a
