What did you do in the garden today?

It's been a while since I hatched eggs, I forgot to take out the Brinsia rotating bottom tray and I almost made a big mistake. I was going to open the incubator and take out a couple of hatched chicks because of my exploding egg phobia. That would cause shrink wrapping on the other eggs with one day left to go. I got 3 Isa Brown chicks so far.............one male and 2 females. I am happy because when I candled them at 10 days, I saw only one egg with movement. The rest of them were black and I couldn't see anything.
I couldn't take it; my OCD got the better of me, with one day left on the count down, I took the hatched chicks out and washed the base. However, I don't think it affected anything because I did not see any of the eggs with pip holes. Now I can let them go over two days and feel good about it.
I am still waiting for my Rhode Island Red eggs that's been in transport for almost two weeks, not looking good. However, the seller claimed she gathered the eggs from her coop the same day she shipped it, so they still may have a chance.

Cleared some dirt out of the box I plan to move today. My hot peppers are starting to bloom, and so are the chives.

Some kind of bugs got into the reseeded melon and squash seeds, so I put new ones in tupperware with some damp paper towel. If that doesn’t work then I’ll just direct sow the replacements and if that doesn’t work I’ll just pray one of each is enough.

Well, the things I'm learning about bagging fruit...

1. Don't waste your time trying to bag tiny peaches because most of them will drop anyway. Wait until they are golf ball size at least before choosing what to bag and thin around it. (Note, this lesson learned is still subject to further tweaking...)

2. Contrary to what YouTubers tell you, nylon pantyhose are useless for bagging fruit. Bugs simply eat through them.

I bit the bullet and bought some Clemson peach bags. Put a couple on tonight but it's about to storm so the rest will have to wait until tomorrow. I've heard good and bad things about using them. I'm sure I will learn from my own experience trying them....

Wondering how many peaches I'm going to lose yet from the notorious June drop... 🤔

I'm probably going to start bagging grapes soon too.... I'll do those with brown lunch bags and a stapler.

😂
Yes I figured you would not be impressed lol

First time for a dust storm here since 1985 they said on the news. And first time the weather service gave us a dust storm warning.
OH, I'm always impressed, it's just so ridiculously common here. To be fair, the weather service has only used dust storms warnings since Nov 2018. So, it's not been that long.

Unlike most everyone else here, it seems, my garden is enjoying cool, moist weather. The lettuce and brassicas are going crazy.

I took a bowl and scissors out and filled it with 2.176 pounds of leaf lettuce and 0.187 pounds of watercress. There will be a lot less cress when I remove the leaves from the stems, which I chopped off with the scissors.

I think I'll have a dill crop this year from all the volunteers that came up.

The chicken run woodchip compost pile is still hovering at 105° at 10 inches depth. Kind of hard to see on the pic.

I still have lettuce which sounds mission impossible. we usually have hell heat at this time of the year.

Here in West Aust - the farmers are hanging out for the starting rains - which are still to arrive.
Dry seeding has commenced - and prayers are going strong.
So I have watered the seeds I planted, the first of the Autumn/winter bulbs to peek above ground, and lots and lots of pot plants that are hanging in there with varying degrees of happy to miserable.
