Sunfish mostly. They are spawning now. I put some in the freezer every year. An occasional crappie. What are you wanting to fish for? Crappie?
Well, we've now had SIX+ inches of rain in 3 days. Supposed to rain again this afternoon. Peaches and garden (and grass, weeds.....) are loving it. I'm afraid to look at the corn plot. It was already under water yesterday before the additional 2 inches of rain last night. Something tells me I'm not getting corn this year unless I buy it. Note to self, move the plot to a different location next year!yeah, had enough of this wind and rain myself.
It's very simple...Our blackberries are on the verge. Never thought of blackberry simple syrup. Any chance your recipe could be coaxed out of you?
Thank You. Almost feel embarrassed to have asked……almost. It's very simple...
2 cups cane sugar
2 cups water
2 cups blackberries
Heat sugar and water on medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Add blackberries, bring to a boil on medium heat, stirring occasionally. Lower to a simmer, mash berries. Remove from heat and strain into a mason jar. Allow to cool and refrigerate.
You can scale this accordingly, as needed. I make a lot of different types of simple syrups because I make my own soda, ice cream, etc... Trying to cut out all the industrial chemicals that are in just about EVERYTHING from the grocery store. Plus it's cheaper to make your own and tastes better.
What is june dropYeah, my trees are really tall too... Probably 15 ft at this point. I am using a ladder to bag as many as I can... Hoping the bugs will focus on the exposed fruit and it'll be a good compromise.I will still spray occasionally but I'm really trying to limit chemicals and be as organic as possible. Last year ALL the fruit dropped except for 3 peaches on one tree. Those peaches were so wormy there was NO WAY I was eating that... Right now it looks like I have a bumper crop of fruit but, of course, June drop has not yet occurred so I'm trying to not get my hopes up too much. I'd LOVE to know how our ancestors managed to get enough peaches to make a pie...
Heck, I'd love to have just a couple of peaches that are worm free. That'd be a start...
