What did you do in the garden today?

Speaking of deer... There was a tiny fawn not far from one of my gardens. I heard it bleating. We found it nestled in the grass. We left it alone; don't know if mom has come back to it yet.
Mom was watching, I'm sure. Fawns have very little scent so predators can't detect them when hiding, so that's how they survive. By hiding.

This was my quick and easy way of keeping the deer from nipping on my pepper plants. I made the chicken wire panels to surround my raised garden beds, and now that the garden area is fenced I don't need the panels around the beds anymore.

2x2s across piles of mulch with the panels laying on top. It's temporary.

I’ll do this today— COFFEE!!!! images (16).jpg
zip in to sprouts and get carrots;celray;potatoes for a roast for dinner-
[ I was planning to lay cardboard all around the lavender and cover it with wood chips- maybe I'll get the cardboard down and latter tonight chip just enough for the lavender]

work the garden= pull weeds ect.....I just hope everything is doing well. I do know the comfrey is out of control. so I 'll be feeding the compost and liquid fertilizer jug.
Let the chicks have time in the run and do a hinny wash of big hens- If this gets moved to Monday its ok.

Well I just dont move as fast as I use to.

I think I found a way to keep pine shavings out of my chicks' feeder. The platform is around 4 inches tall. It was originally the same size as the water bottle's platform, but they were still able to scratch pine shavings into it. I will change the one under the water bottle latter. The platform under the water bottle is about 2 inches tall.

DH found a little volunteer mystery plant in one of the garden beds, dug it up, & transplanted it to a container. He thinks it's a cuke... we'll see. I'll laugh if it's a weed!

Garden bed #2 ~ May 2 ~ the roll of black bird netting is working to keep the chickens & wild birds & feral cats out!
GARDEN BED 2 CUKE TOMATO 05-07-2025.jpg

Garden bed #2 ~ May 24 ~ 3 tomato plants, 2 cukes, & 1 jalapeno. Crowded, but usually the cukes stop producing before the tomatoes so we'll just pull the cuke vines then.
