I haven't even seen a tomato hornworm in more than a decade. We have a fair number of wild birds that we feed, and I can only assume that they go after assorted bugs as "snacks" in between chowing down at the feeders.

Maybe you spread it too thick?!My fruit leather is really struggling. I had it in the oven yesterday at 170 degrees for 5+ hrs and it still wasn't done. Put it back in this morning. It's been in there for 2 hours now and still not done.Yesterday it was on a basic bake setting. Today I put it on convection bake. That seems to have helped a little but I'm still surprised it isn't done yet. I do have a dehydrator but it's a pain to use and I don't like it. The trays are just flat wire grids and the settings are very very limited. (I didn't buy it... My mom got it as a gift from my step-dad for Christmas the day he passed away.)
It didn't seem very thick but that would be the obvious issue... Just not sure what to do to fix it.Maybe you spread it too thick?!
I have used Doterra's Terrashield before (as a spray) and can confirm it's very effective! I've never used it in soap though. Let us know how it goes!DD and gs got the tomatoes planted last weekend and I planned to garden today. I didn’t look at the radar. Rain next several days!
I will make soap today. I’m trying these 2 oils to see if it will help us from being eaten alive when we go out!
We have 3 of our soapberry trees sprouting! Would be cool if all 5 came up!
We also have a new batch of babies! This time we got 10 out of 17!
Nice!Speaking of volunteers.... Which ones have popped up in your garden unexpectedly this year?
I've had lettuce carrots, asparagus, raspberries and a surprise sunflower.![]()
I'm old but occasionally use a belly band for comfort to hold up an old belly. I'm not fat but childbearing does stretch the belly skin that seems to sag later & later w/ age. Save your band for use in later yrs. No use paying $$$ again for another band later in life.Gardening pregnant has become increasingly more difficult, but I feel accomplished today. I weeded an entire garden bed, fertilized my strawberry patch, and sprayed my three fruit trees with copper fungicide (wore a mask just in case). There's still a lot on my list, but that's for another day.
To any other pregnant gardeners out there - a small seat to use during weeding and a belly band work wonders! I thought I'd have to stop gardening altogether at this point, but these tools have helped me be able to get more done without over-exerting myself.![]()
