What did you do in the garden today?

I took off the sheets covering the dog crates that hold the starts. I didn't realize it was going to be so windy. A few hours later, I went to cover them up, and they were a little tired looking. A good watering and I covered them up. We might get some rain tomorrow. If it's not too windy, I'll uncover them and let them taste the wild water.

After about 15 hours of cooking, the fruit leather FINALLY finished. I tasted some today. It's meh... 🫩 A bit bitter actually... I used Allulose/Monkfruit extract instead of sugar which was clearly a mistake.

Oh well, lesson learned.
I bought a bag of stevia powder to use in my coffee as a sugar replacement. Dang, that's nasty stuff! I switched back to organic sugar mixed with blackstrap molasses. That tastes much better.

Hahaha! Wild water. Never heard that one before, but it's true.

I use stevia sometimes. DH doesn't like it at all... Says it has an aftertaste. I've been trying to cut out as much processed stuff as possible. In my coffee, I use palm sugar which has a sort of caramel-y taste. In my simple syrups, I use raw, organic cane sugar. I should have just used that....but I figured the fruit would be sweet itself somewhat. I didn't expect the bitterness.... To be fair, the peaches were store bought...small and likely a little under ripe. I probably should have tasted the puree before actually cooking it.

Decided to go pull some weeds inside the hoop house. The ground is sooooooo saturated. I was a muddy mess after 10 minutes. Tons of moths in there so I'm guessing I'll have caterpillars soon. I'll break out the BT if it ever stops raining and actually dries out a little bit. 🙄 I did bag the broccoli and some carrots to try to catch some seeds... 🤞

100% rain all day today!
Can’t do gardening. My dh did get the gate fixed to garden in between showers yesterday!
I cut my soap and letting it dry! It smells so strong. I have a problem w my scents disappearing in my soaps so this time I made sure it was 100 degrees b4 I added oils. I used a thermometer and all 😂
I would love to learn to make soap but am always intimidated by the whole lye process etc....

Went out and looked at my green beans bed. The green beans that sprouted were gone. Again. The third time and I KNOW ITS ROLY POLYS! UGH..I've planted this bed three times now. I used Dr.Jacks organic big powder on them but we have had light off n on drizzle for couple days so that didn't work..any Roly poly advice? Rant over-

I restarted my pumpkins! Finally!! Did it on Friday.

@Justagalwithchicks roly polies are my arch nemesis... DE helps and the organic slug and snail bait pellets. They murdered a lot of my pumpkins that I tried to start from seed.

Still fighting the gophers.... It's a little insane. I keep setting the same traps in the clover patch because every time I kill one, there's almost instantly another one in the same tunnel system. It's not right!! It's been one after another since October in this one area. It's so far away from the fences, I just don't understand!! So many gophers!!! 😭🥴

I spent my day in a giant solar array. I had a few minutes to just look at where I was standing at one point, it was really neat so I snapped a few photos. I have to go back tomorrow. At least the weather is mild.

I was standing in a service row, and that's in front of me, then behind me. So much solar.

We got the very first blackberries today!!! They were eaten before we left the bramble. 🤣 The only other thing I did in the garden, water. More watering. Getting tired of manual watering. I will work on the drip lines very soon.
