What will I be doing in my garden today?...:weeway too many things........let me count the ways...

Let the chooks out to do work on my garden beds...busy little feet

Get worm casting for my chilly and herb plants

Set up a new pot for compost...it seems to work wonder this way, my pot compost got so much Black soldier fly lavae, they go through the compost so fast just overnight. My chooks are guarding the compost pot and fighting each other 😄

I will put down my christmas shelly bean seeds. We love this beans, we never have enough of it. Over here this beans is not available in the supermarket.

Exciting time for gardening today.....chooks and human alike:thumbsup

I don't keep a garden compost cuz of rat temptation so I keep egg shells pulverized to a powder in a container to use for planting later (heat egg shells to kill any mold bacteria then pulverize the shells & store away).
I have 15 acres of mostly woodland. I currently have 6 compost hills for downed limbs and cleaning out goat stalls, pigs, and rabbits. There is no topsoil here, it's all clay and rocks, if I didn't start these compost piles 10+ years ago I would be hurting, I have more rich black dirt waiting for me to use than anyone else on this mountain.

My cats are so good at ratting they have decimated the ones on the farm and go to the neighbors to scratch their hunting itch lol

Almost time to pick my first jolopeno! Tomato plants are nearing 3ft and no fruits yet but tons of flowers 😬

All the garden starts are in the ground. The only thing left to plant is onions around stuff, and zucchini and beans from seed. Since they need a relatively short season, they can wait while I catch up on the weeding and mulching.

I planted a row of collards and chard. Almost nothing came up. This happened last spring. Then I planted again in August, and the chard went crazy. The collards were eaten by cabbage moth larvae, I think.

I have tried for years to grow strawberries, but all I do is fight runners so I'm always on the hunt for them.
My husband found some for me, as I've been obsessively trolling strawberry upick farms. An Amish lady nearby is selling them! I got 2 gallons this weekend and another 3 gallons today! But do I need more? 🤔 :drool

Since I was asked, here's my recent garden pictures... Breaking across 3 posts. Apologies for the length...

Corn plot has finally dried out. Lost almost half of it.

Squash mound... It has zucchini, pumpkin, cushaw, and watermelon growing on it.

First time I've EVER been successful getting Lisianthus to germinate. Hoping we make it to flower stage

Zombie rose is getting bigger... The yarrow next to it is supposed to be colored. I've bought seeds from Baker Creek 3 yrs in a row. Finally got it to sprout but it came out as common yarrow instead of the variety I purchased.

Thornless blackberries and asparagus have intermingled despite my attempts to quarantine them to their own beds... For that matter, Concords have also taken over the blackberry bed too! 😂

Double Gold raspberries are coming back. Nearly lost ALL of them to disease last year.
