What did you do in the garden today?

Checked on my cold striated wild lupine and russell lupine seeds. 100% germination in the fridge after 2 weeks (outrageous) so I quick potted them up in my 5" plug trays and stuck them in my guestroom/grow station. I'm still waiting for my delphiniums to germinate. I will see if everything grows strong enough for a fall planting.

Some creature is digging up my garden beds. It has to be either the raccoon or a squirrel. I need to set up my motion activated sprinkler.

This is my first Black Beauty eggplant that I picked off my grafted devil tree. I am going to cut a round piece around an inch thick and roast it for about 12 minutes at 450F and put it on a sandwich and see how it tastes. I never had them this way, I am shooting for Al dente. I'll probably get more ideas after tasting the sandwich. I like sandwiches because I get to consume the cucumber pickles that I made at the early part of the season. I flavored and preserved my pickles with Japanese rice vinegar, salt, sugar and dry dill.

Hot today. I harvested the lettuce and some kale today. Tomorrow’s temperatures are supposed to be in mid to high 70’s. So I didn’t put up shade cloth yet. The peas in the 16 foot bed are starting to blossom so hopefully they survive the heat. I’m under a severe thunderstorm watch now. Heavy rain, winds, possible hail and a chance of a tornado. I made a pasta salad for dinner so I’m all set. Fingers crossed we just get some rain. Today’s little haul.
