Get well wishes to your DH🙏!!!

I broke my right humerus last yr & had surgery to put a brace & pins to connect the bone. It was a 24-hr job for DH to care for me as my arm was in a sling for over 8 months. DH took a yr off work to care for me. His benefits ran out & got a new job! That's dedication! Otherwise the ER wanted to put me in a care facility but insurance benefits are limited!

DH took over planting our garden 100% this past yr since I was incapacitated. I'm slowly returning to small chores w/therapy but he's mostly handling the gardens & chickens now.

He was so happy picking the 1st cucumber yesterday & chopping it up for the hens.

Today he harvested a Black Beauty zucchini for our dinner.

Does anyone know why there are white spots on the zucchini leaves? I've had zucchini a couple seasons & get white leaf spots/mold? or is that normal? The fruit is fine but the leaves get spotted.

Oh what a true love story and one of dedication! We do what we need to for the ones we love. The white spots is powdery mildew. You can do 2 tablespoons of baking soda in one gallon of water and spray it on. It will help it. It changes the ph on the leaves so not a good place for the mildew to grow..or you can apply a copper fungicide and it will knock it out for sure. I pray your broken bone heals completely with full use of your arm. I fell and broke my wrist last fall in two places. It was awful I can't imagine the pain you must and still endure!

Cucumbers are sliced and soaking in the salt water, dill is washed and hanging in the kitchen ready to use. Canning jars are on the table, going to be a busy morning tomorrow. More huckleberries to the freezer, another batch of green beans, and think I picked the last of the blueberries. Beets have gotten about as big as a half dollar, and I keep picking the jalapenos way too early. Just can't wait for them to get some heat to them before I'm yanking them for more cowboy candy, lol. I will be more patient, I will be more patient...... Yeah, right!
Cowboy family is one of my family's favorites! It is HOT HOT!!

TY the baking soda sounds reasonable & seems to have so-o-o many useful ways to apply in food, skin creams, toothpastes, neutralizing acids, etc ... so true about love which manifests in action rather than words ❣️

I made a cup of hot chili pepper water and got addicted to it.
I used 1tbs coarse Hawaiian salt, 1tbs sugar, 2tbs rice vinegar, 1tsp minced garlic, handful of hot red chili peppers, 1 cup of water, and pureed it in a blender. I use it as a dip for fish and other meat.
DH copied your recipe to try after his chili peppers mature.

It rained another 3/8" today and everything in the garden looks deep, deep green. Funny how "wild" water makes the garden happier than the garden hose does.

Spent a few hours improving the chickens' day run, making it little chicken escape proof. Then I tried letting the little 7 week old chicks move out with the big girls, but it didn't work. Too much agression and scared the little chicks. I'll try again in a couple weeks.
