What did you do in the garden today?

DH found a cuke hiding under a leaf & took a pic of it next to our dinner zucchini. The cuke was just named "Burpless" & have no idea how it will taste. We loved our Sweeter Success cuke w/the smaller seeds & less water content. Not sure I like the look of this spikey cuke

Drought since May 1. So many trees and bushes to water.... Managed about 1/3 of the black raspberry ones and started picking today. Last of the haskaps included.

Yes, the corn belt is humid. As the corn grows so does the humidity. The heat really leaves me tired at the end of the day.

(add at the very end)

No, but in the end you aren’t getting the flavor of the eggplant, just a yummy sauce.

I have never grown Lima beans. I like them but never thought to plant any! Are they easy like a regular bean?

Not in northern Massachusetts. They like really warm temperatures and do well in consistently warm temperatures. Two years ago I planted them and they did really well. This year, no sign of them.

What does everyone do with their kale?

I tried some of the smaller leaves off mine today. I was going to use it in salad initially but now that I’ve had it raw I’m thinking cooking it with some garlic and butter might be better, it tastes like slightly-more-bitter broccoli.

Also how well does it freeze? Would I be better off dehydrating it for long term storage?

I have been weeding after the 3" of rain we got the other day. Corn has been thinned along with the carrots for the 2nd time. With the rain and now the heat the corn in spots is knee high already, zucchini are huge and tomatoes are at the top of the cages. Going to need to pick lettuce in the next days, hope it doesn't bolt from the heat.
