What did you do in the garden today?

I used to hate hornworms but I tolerate them now. The chickens love them so I don’t mind throwing them some! My gs has a lizard and he takes some home w him too. Evidently they sell live ones $1 piece online and at pet stores for animals! And then there’s fishing- some fishermen love using as bait.
I hate the way they rear up like they are gonna strike!

Always amazed at how stout hornworms are.

Regarding garlic, is this you guys/gals experience? I plant mine in October and it comes up pretty soon after that and gets to about a foot tall. The plants survive the winter cold without growing any more. Then they start growing again when it warms up early spring.
Mine sprouts a bit in the fall when planted, usually grows just enough in the early spring to let me know it survived the winter and then rots. 😩

AND CLICK AT YOU. I draw the line when they flail and click at me. EW.

Put down my last red sex link. A breed I'll never bring home again. What a horribly over bred, trainwreck of a breed. Illness is rampant and they only make it to 3 or 4 years old before some horrific illness takes over. No exception here. Something horrible going on with her digestion and back end, sluggish, swollen, red and she was hiding. Nope, Done.
NO MORE PRODUCTION breeds.

Ragweed is winning and tomatoes need tied up. Weather is weird for here and tomatoes are out there, but not in huge numbers. Pollination has been tricky this year.
Grapes out the ying yang-but I don't net those, so results later may vary.
I'm not really into the garden this year for whatever reason. Overwhelmed by other stuff I guess.
Tore a huge hole in my other hand last night folding the step ladder. I swear and swore. I'm walking swiss cheese.

OH and for anyone that hasn't heard, Del Monte just declared bankruptcy and are looking at a restructuring/sale. SO this includes all branded delMonte products-fruit cups and sauces, but also Contadina sauces/pastes/tomato products, and College Inn broths. They blame people's change in eating habits. WTH? Really ? Basic sauce and soup ingredients? Not some flash in a pan trending food item. ARGH.

So a few of my favorites are in that, so in case of them folding altogether or restructuring and changing product, I'm freeze drying stuff. I swear.

Found my first of the season SVB attack. Injected BT. Watered some. Grass is starting to turn brown in spots. Cucumbers starting to bloom. Blackberries starting to turn.

I love their pizza sauce, it's my families favorite. 😞

Pulled a bunch of yellow and red cherry tomatoes and made a tomato, black olive, and spanish olive salad….one of our favorites. But, when done I went to cover it with plastic wrap and had that burning question I’ve been keeping lit for decades resurface. Why, if we can go to the moon, create humanoid robots, explore the universe light years away, and carry mini computers in our pockets can’t the plastic wrap manufacturers figure out how to make an actual working cutter on the box??
