Weeding, harvesting purslane and basil, now in the dehydrator. Always on the hunt for squash and cucumber beetles to cull them and their eggs.

Tomorrow, harvesting Swiss Chard and Kale, then blanching to remove much oxalates and dehydrating. Probably harvesting more purslane and basil to dry...and watering and weeding. Praying as I do it and getting Vit D.

They don't care. It's the same letter from 2019. They ask to make you feel like you're being heard. You won't be. I switched to Superb and haven't looked back.
All the Ball/Kerr/Harvest are all the same company now, all only good for dry storage. Some won't even seal with a vacuum seal. They're too thin and a simple change in air pressure will pop the seal.

I just bought some Superb lids from Amazon. It's just sad, I loved Ball Mason and was loyal to them. Thank you for the info, I hope these work out for me.

Always wondered what criteria was or is used to determine when a egg was no longer good to use. I usually buy bulk and would have several dozen store bought eggs in the refrigerator for in excess of a month or maybe longer and have never had a ‘bad’ egg.

people who sell eggs say 3 months old eggs are ok if stored in a cool place and if they are infertile (from caged birds). not sure for how long backyard eggs would be good as most of them are fertile. I found something black looking like mold in 2 months old eggs. not sure if it was due to warm weather or bc they were fertile. no room in the fridge, no basement here. I now boil extra eggs and feed animals. cut my feeding bill down as well.

I literally set off a rat trap on accident in flip flops half an hour ago.... looking for tomato hornworms. Bahahaha! I scared the sobriety into myself when I heard that trap go off.

Yup. I don't use social media aside from this forum, and the aquarium co-op forum. I can't be bothered with all the scrolling nonsense... It is a depressing space imo. I have better things to do. Like pick up dog doo so my kid can play in the yard without worry. lol

Rabbit and squirrel are tasty rodents

You're so funny. I thought about noting the fact that Rabbit isn't a rodent because it's delicious. LOL

Squirrel though; never eaten. So I have no opinion. Though the tree squirrels here are demons, ground squirrels same thing.

Since so many people on here and recently myself, have had trouble with Ball canning lids sealing. I sent them a very detailed message about their lids being ineffective. They sent me this checklist of things they want to know to deter any further action. I was sent a list similar to this from FedEx 3 months ago and after nastily answering their 20 repetitive questions they said they weren't going to do anything anyway and contact Wal-Mart for a refund.

You are not alone. I've had bad seals where I have never had problems before.

I'm about to also buy a case of superb lids. I am pretty pissed off about pressure canning and having failed seals... I've been pressure canning since I was in high school and never had a problem. Water bath canning as well.

Is that what's going on? I just started putting up my pickles and none of the jars sealed. Started using the new box of ball lids, and believe me when I say I can't eat this many jars of pickles! gotta go search for those superb you mentioned, will they fit the ball/Kerr jars?

Yes they do. Very well. I bought my MIL some and she loves them. I may have used her as a Guinea pig..... >.>
