What did you do in the garden today?

Watered my garden yesterday because the flood they said was gonna happen never did didn’t even rain at all. Using wood ash on my plants as a dust seems to be keeping the cabbage moths awayView attachment 4175464View attachment 4175465View attachment 4175466View attachment 4175467
My peppers are taking forever to growView attachment 4175469

I also have tomatoes literally all over the place lol
Beautiful brassicas!

Today I went and picked some melon cucumbers, and Rijla. I had fewer this week, and I thought it was the sucking insects. Turn out I missed a fruit.

a few day ago, I spread some ladybugs around the gourds to get rid of the sucking insects, it seems to work.

I've decided to try an experiment... My favorite chicken - a 7 yr old Buff Orpington named Red - has developed cancer around her beak. According to the Poultry vet at University of Arkansas, there is no real cure. Can't operate because where it is... So basically the best I can do is make her comfortable. So far, she has been eating and drinking like normal. Very active...

Well, I've read some studies showing promise around Ivermectin as a cancer treatment. So I'm sure you can see where this is going... I have some ivermectin horse paste. I'm applying it topically and inside her mouth every single day... I'll take pictures (ideally) every day to see if there is any change.

I really have nothing to lose... The picture showing the inside of her mouth is from 6/28. It has grown quite a bit since then. The other pictures were taken this evening.

Ivermectin is good for so many things. Anti-inflammatory some took it during covid. I take it for inflammation and found it has an effect on blood sugar. i take it twice a month and near the 1 week mark my sugar drops to where I need very little insulin.

Have a question for you about this, would you message me so I don’t clog the garden thread? Thanks!

I watered the entire garden again. The temperature will be around 95 degrees this afternoon and we've had no rain for a long time.

I might yank up all the kale plants and give them to the chickens today. They're getting kind of scraggly looking, and it's about time to plant new kale and collard seeds for the fall crop anyway.
We went from daily rain and nights around 40-45 and days of 60 in May, to barely no raid with an occasional thunder shower and nights around 70 and days around 90 in June& July! My garden has no idea how to react!

Kale/arugula still are ok, but I did put out another planting of seeds last week so when this batch bolts I’ll have some for the fall. Love having a fresh salad every night!
