What did you do in the garden today?

I pruned my cucumbers this morning. Should've started pruning weeks ago because they were a jumbled mess. I'm giving them a good, long watering with the drip irrigation to help them get over the shock.

Looks like the dam neighbor's cat is crapping between the cukes and zuchs.

You have a big enough space that the neighbor cat should not be a problem... That probably means they don't have a litter box outside for them.

I'm with Rick. Or, if you like your neighbors, ask them about the cats potty box access and let them know about the crap in your garden and the health concerns. Cat poo is terrible.

I know all about the cat. It's an outdoor cat, gets fed inside but loves to hunt in the area. I credit it with keeping the rodent population in check around my house/shop/chicken accommodations. I can handle a little cat poo/piss in the garden in exchange for its services.

A bullet would be overkill...

I spent an hour and a half last night pruning back grapevines that were grabbing trees and tomato plants. WE HAVE RULES grapevines. Geesh.
Then all the tomatoes were a week past due for a tie up. There are some reds out there I need to go grab. Two larger slicing tomatoes, I'll need to check the variety, look like the tomatoes I grew up around. Round, CHONKY, slightly flat, with crackling on top. High acid those were. I'll look when I go out to let the birds out.
I trimmed the tarragon from 7 feet high down to about 2.5. Those piles will smell amazing when I hit them with the mower.
The horseradish and all the regular rain we've been having are simply out of control at almost 3.5 feet high and 5 feet across. They are the definition of insanity in my garden.

A GOOD Bloody Mary is my favorite drink. DH makes an awesome one... Not too spicy but not bland. I believe his secret ingredient is pickle juice. 😁
Same! Even when I was a kid, I would get Virgin bloody marys. When I was pregnant I drank a ton of V8 and canned tomato juice. My secret ingredient to a good bloody Mary is to rim the glass with celery salt, skewer a variety of pickled things; garlic stuffed olives, pickled pearl onions, pickled green beans. Sometimes a stick or two of pickled asparagus, and if it's a breakfast bloody Mary, a piece of thick cut bacon or pork belly on the top.

Fair enough. I would see about making an area to encourage the creature to crap in. I live in suburbia so I asked my neighbor to set up a potty box outside. It fixed my issue for a while until new renters moved in behind us. I asked them to do the same, they replied to me with some not nice things. Then I took their cats to the shelter three times. After 6 months.... They decided to put out a potty box, apologized to me and our other neighbors who complained. Apparently another neighbor showed them a video of one of their cats pooping on their front porch. 🤣

When I try to grow tarragon, it dies. 🤣 It's one of the few things I can't grow very well.

I just trimmed back a bunch of mint last night, it was out of control. I could barley see the blueberries.

Something has set my allergies off. Not amused.

Started pruning the spent canes from the blackberries this morning.

Grapes are almost ready. Tomatoes have a few ripe fruit. I will harvest what I can today for dinner tonight. Bush beans are about to flower! Soon I'll have enough green beans to actually do something besides a dinner dish. Looks like we will have watermelon this year, and cantaloupe but not honeydew. The cool weather is keeping my vining plants from thriving. Except that one butternut planting, it's insane. I don't know how it's doing so well. They're huge and there's so much huge fruit on the vines!

I'm going to push my luck and plant more kubocha and long pie pumpkins. We have about 100 days until our first frost.

Haven't had one in years, but reading that sure sounds tasty on a hot summer evening! Will he share his recipe? (Since we know his secret ingredient) 😁
I'd love to share, but I don't have one. It's all in his head... He never measures anything. It's a dash here. Pouring oh so much there.... 😂 But it always turns out amazing. The man has an incredible gift when it comes to cooking but he refuses consider making his genius into something commercial.

The first few beans are coming along nicely! IMG_0588.jpeg
