What did you do in the garden today?

Really?? A freeze dryer? Can you post a link?
After reading the descriptions some more I’m thinking some of them might actually be dehydrators and they’re just calling them freeze driers but I could be wrong and hope I am lol  apologies if I’m NOT wrong.

Can you post the link, and we'll take a look? I'm betting you're right, that they're calling them freeze driers, but they're really dehydrators.

A good dehydrator isn't $100-200, more like $400 nowadays, if it's decent sized. I think I paid $250 for my 9 tray Excalibur about 28 years ago.

I needed to replace a knob last year. That's it. Like the Energizer Bunny, still going.

I did right above that and hmmm interesting. IDK. The one we got is pretty good. I’m not sure how much it was though.

My garden got destroyed in the recent storm. Destroyed!! All my tomato plants gone. All my aubergine/eggplants gone. All my basil gone. All my leeks gone. All my petunias and marigolds gone. My taller-than-me tree spinach gone.
I'm an adult human and I want to cry.

I had an emergency visit to ED before the storm and was discharged after the storm had hit so I had no chance to protect/move the taller or less stable plants/planters. The courgettes/zucchini are still okay. Everything else gone!!!

So sorry! :hugs

I have to be in town Friday. I will take the laptop in. malware or dying? On the bread my second rise was not tall enough. Should have let it rise longer than the 40 minutes the video said. cooked it 40 minutes called for. Too long I think. made the crust tough. I did use King Arthur bread flour. I saw a video that said wet your hands with water to deal with sticky dough. Try again.

I’ll have looked at them in the past but I will have to check to check them out again I love weird stuff!
They have a lot of unique things. I will give them that, but their prices are not great. Especially for the extra oddball things. Even when MIgardener isn't having a sale, their prices are better. If I can find the same variety that bakers has at MIgardener, I buy it there. Generally it's cheaper and there's usually more seeds per packet. Though seed count is usually the same for the 'rare' seeds. Price is still generally better at MIgardener and I've never had issues with quality or service.

At this point I have one 5" binder full of seeds plus another 1" binder.... I am not buying seeds for a while. Lol🤣

I'm starting to limit my tomato varieties. Last year I grew 29 different varieties. Only 16 this year. I will grow even less varieties next year. I'm finding the ones I use the most and sticking with them.

On King Arthur site they have bread recipes, I've been making the classic Sandwich bread.

That recipe is nearly identical to the basic white bread recipe that came with my old bread machine, but the results aren't really consistent. Sometimes it turns out great but usually it's just so-so.

Instead of using measuring cups/spoons I'm going to try weighing out all the ingredients next time I make a loaf and see what happens.

I found this volume-to-weight chart on the King Arthur site I'll use for the conversions.
