Which kicks butt when used as a baking addition. Love love adding it to apple anything for an added kick.Working on a batch of apple syrup as I write. Processed a portion of our apple overload into 24 cups of cider which is on its way to apple syrup.
I've been making it every other year or so for 35 years, and my great grand mother made it before me- and she went back to 1901. Bet it goes back further than that. No, just something I came across during one of my searches. I’m always tracking down recipes and food ideas.
Yep, I remember trying to find the sausage stuffer tubes for old plastic grinder, couldn’t them because they changed the grinder to the metal one ( which is much better IMO) which took a different diameter on the tube flanges. I have two KA stand mixers, one is at least 20-30 years old, and haven’t had any issues mounting attachments to the PTO.Which kicks butt when used as a baking addition. The weekend washout rains have arrived. We put a tarp over the missing run roof last night to keep the birds from playing in their own smelly mud.
I'm delayed on getting the roof on with an arthritis flare in one knee. When it goes, my whole knee swells on one side and it's a brace ice and a cane for me. Bleh.
The second hay shed still needs the vents caulked and painted over that. And one more blackjack coat on the floor.
The gutter guys should be here Tuesday. The siding guys should be here too to do their punch list. And the roof company should be here too to get their trash trailer.
The tractor guys never did show to pick up the tractor, so there's a Tuesday phone call.
Son made a gallon of pizza sauce yesterday from our garden tomatoes. I'll pick that up from him today and get it in the freeze dryer.

Peeve incoming.
The plastic housing on my KitchenAid food grinder finally cracked. I use it to grind pepperoni and to use as the base unit for their fruit and veg pulping system.. I went to order a new grinder, saw it was offered in metal, whoot-should last longer. Got it in, the grinder is 50% larger than the plastic one, which means the pulp maker won't fit. UGH. OK I have a separate machine for that from the Amish market, I'll give the old KA pulper to my son for his meat grinder.
IT DOESN"T FIT HIS! They did a redesign 5 years ago for the grinder and my square ends don't fit his new round holes! LIVID! what KA idiot did THAT?! KA should be usuable across the line. If you have one part that fits an accessory, that fits all machines, it should fit all accessories. SO. I had to order a NEW pulper to fit his NEW grinder style (as his Christmas present). KA reps are happy about it either. But good grief.
First time doing this, looking for options for using our harvests and do some trial and error on different things to see what sticks as a pantry staple. I think I over cooked a bit but I believe adding water back to thin it out, or better yet some of the apple cider, is the correction.I've been making it every other year or so for 35 years, and my great grand mother made it before me- and she went back to 1901.
