I don’t think I could bring myself to shoot squirrels. Chipmunks I have no problem with killing but there is just something about squirrels that I love

It's absolutely beautiful outside today! High of 78 and sunny... Sadly, I will not get to enjoy it. Was cleaning the chicken coop yesterday and fell off a step stool. Landed on the chicken roost (landscaping timber) and severely injured my ribs, back, and hip. Thought I broke my back at first. Thankfully nothing is broken but badly bruised. Hard to move around right now and bending down is not happening.

Today's melon is so sweet and tasty. I'm glad I gave it that extra day in the sun to finish ripening.

Pellet rifles are relatively quiet...

And squirrels are easy to drop if you hit 'em.

What time is dinner?

I tore out the tomato plants today. There weren't even enough whitings out there to bother trying to ripen, and everything out there was left was tiny.
So out it came.
I have one more grape harvest to go.
As long as I was out there working, I removed one tomato cattle panel row to make room for an ever expanding dwarf apple tree.

Seeing as this location is the only place fruit trees seem to like, I might add a couple more. They hyper amended soil is glorious for them. We'll see how many dwarf trees I can get in there.

My hens started molting and have stopped laying eggs, so I stir fried bolted lettuce leaves and lunch and meat for breakfast. And I found that the lettuce can replace the egg in my opinion.
