What did you do in the garden today?

I love the new 4Runners. I would love to have one, but we needed to get a truck and shrink our fleet.

We got a 2025 RAM 2500 with the new Cummins diesel. They went back to an iron block, back to glow plugs, moved the fuel filters and oil filter, and made a new 8 speed transmission. The automatic exhaust brake is fantastic.

We are already making good use of it. We went camping this weekend. The new truck pulls the camper like it's not even there. Going home today. We went on an 8 hour ride yesterday. Went on a handful of trails we'd never been on. Went through a new burn scar, took a bunch of neat photos. I'll have to go through and find the best ones to share when I get home. But here's a few, not as neat as the burn scar photos but still cool.
I hear you... We have a 2018 RAM 2500 Laramie 4x4. It's got the hemi engine (gas, rather than diesel) but I absolutely love it. I have the Ram boxes in the bed which are so useful. My *only* complaint is the UConnect touch screen. All the electronics for the radio, temperature settings, navigation, seat settings, and phone connections happen through it. If ANYTHING happens to your screen, the vehicle goes BONKERS. To the point that you can hardly drive because of the severe distractions.

I had a problem a few years ago where the touchscreen separated just slightly with the screen behind it. I recorded a video (see below) but it actually got much worse than this... It was randomly calling people, trying to navigate me to random places, and turning the temperature to the highest or lowest setting. And you couldn't change it... Cost me $1800 to fix it. 🙄

Even though this isn't about the garden I just want to share. Tonight I made a chocolate cake using the recipe from the Hershey's Cocoa bag and I used the duck eggs. I just put a lemon cake in the oven to bake and it's the perfect blend of sweet and lemon. It's not overwhelming on the lemon flavor and it's not like damn are you sure that's a lemon cake. I also used duck eggs for the lemon cake

Mmmmmm. Your house must smell divine.

Yeah that's a ram.... Electronics in them generally have issues. Funny. We bought a Laramie, 4x4. I'm sure we'll have our share of electrical issues with this one.

Our old truck is a 2006 Ram 2500 big horn SLT 4x4 with the hemi. Sun roof doesn't open, driver side rear window doesn't open from that door panel, AC doesn't work, the air diverter is stuck, and the temperature mixer is stuck on hot air, there's something wrong with the air bag system now that they did the recall fix, and something wrong with the brake computer. Had to replace the tipm.... But it is a great truck otherwise. It sounds like a lot of issues... But, all electrical. Never had any issues with the mechanical parts.

I would have bought a Ford if it wasn't another $20k for the equivalent trim/specs.

Truck, trailer, dogs today when we packed up.

Cabbage white butterflies are DESTROYING my last few kale plants. I squished about 200-300 of these eggs and removed 50 little caterpillars. Took me 2 hours :he (I only have 5 plants)

plant dill and onion/garlic/leeks near brassicas. there will still be butterflies but not as many.
