What did you do in the garden today?

We just stomped on them. The real work comes when trying to separate the meat and shell. Black Walnuts are more entwined with shell than english walnuts. Best option: Sam’s club and stock up when they have them.
lol we don’t have one. We used to.

My grandparents always had tasty and acidic tomatoes. Never knew what variety they were, or whether it was the soil they grew in but I just don’t seem to be able to find or grow tomatoes with the same bite. Of course I could be lying to myself and simply mis-remembering, afterall I was a youngster way back then.

Yes. She's still at the hospital waiting for the MRI to be done and then get the results back. This hospital sucks. You go in with a high fever and they act like you're a nobody.
I think all hospitals are at that point. That’s why I go all the way to Boston to the VA hospital.

I couldn't find any eggs from my old hens in their nest box, so I locked them up for three days and found 3 strong shell eggs today. I also locked them up to protect them from my 3-sex crazy young roosters.

I placed the 3 eggs in my Chickcozy incubator and notice that the egg holder looks over sized because it jerks them around when it turns from side to side, so I tilted the eggs 45 degrees in the middle. Now when the turner flips side to side the eggs doesn't jerk or rattle in the oversized egg holder. If I can get more fertile eggs, I will try placing them down flat instead of placing them with the pointy side down.

I am hoping to preserve my Cornish X/Breese line by crossing the old hens with my Isa Brown Roosters. Two of the roosters look like Rhode Island Reds and only one of them look like a typical white and brown Isa Brown rooster.

I pulled 15 pounds of tomatoes from the garden this morning. I'm not sure what variety they are because they're from saved seeds.

They don't look quite like Roma tomatoes, too pear shaped I think. Whatever they are, the plants have definitely produced well.

Most of these are from six plants. I've already picked a lot, and there are LOTS more green ones.

ETA: Actually they look like San Marzano tomatoes. Size is right too, about 3.5 inches.

Definitely SM in there. I’ve been growing them for years. This year’s crop is pretty much a loss. But the few that are pulling through look great. They’re naturally sweeter than Romas.
