What did you do in the garden today?

THe harvest dust with mold mixed in is the worst I've seen it here. Even DH is having problems and he's not allergic to anything.
@Justagalwithchicks how you doing over there??
About the same conditions here! Headaches every day if you are outside! Likely should wear a mask, but can`t hardly hack them! Too hot and hard to breath if you are very busy. 😵

This year's winter squash harvest is a little disappointing considering all the variety and quantity that we planted. Drought was a big factor and voles decided they like the plants as well. But it's not nothing.

That's a beautiful harvest!

I planted 20 winter squash plants, more than one time, this year and the only fruit I got were 2 little kabocha, like 10 butternut squash and 1 table queen. I don't think I watered enough.

The 3M n-95 Aura is a good choice if you're wearing it all day. Or the 3M 9211+ if it's hot. I prefer the 9211+ while my spouse prefers the Aura.

We have a soil fungus here that can cause "valley fever" so we have no choice but to wear masks in the dust.

I must have planted about 30 plants into 10 holes, 3 were ravaged by voles and the rest held back by drought as I didn't really water and it was an unsually dry year (no serious rain for 4 months starting May).

The result does look nice but they are very small... Once baked there's just not much flesh there. Better than having nothing though. I'm baking the ones that look kinda sensitive to mould right now and making purree.

8 varieties were planted and I think in the end we only had a harvest from Iron cup, Totanera and Sombra. Had high expectations of Amish pie but so did the voles.

I'm plainting Fritillaria and daffodils to discourage the animals in the future.

Sorry you have to contend with a soil fungus! That would make me have to wear one too! 🙂

over 90' and I tried a dust mask while on the tractor, but that made it worse. The 3M 9211+ wasn't even cutting it. Oh well. It's the season.
Can't win for trying.
