What did you do in the garden today?

Are silver laced wyandottes good roosters? Someone is rehoming a young one and I am thinking that it's because they know it a rooster so I am just wondering if they're friendly or not.
They can be friendly but not always. FYI rose comb breeds the roosters sometimes have fertility problems. Single comb appears in those breeds to help overcome that problem.

Northern CA got a good wet down today so hopefully it's coming your way. Looks like we're going to get some more tomorrow as well so hopefully you'll get it in a day or so.
I forget that you're located so close. I'm glad you guys got some rain. We barely got anything from that storm. Looks like we're getting soaked with another system in the latter half of next week. Hopefully it's not too rainy next Saturday. We're picking olives.

More garlic is coming up. It's looking promising. Silverwhite is always the last to emerge. But I have new varieties this season so we'll see what happens. Squash looks like it's cured so I'll bring down everything today and put it in the garage. Leaving to go camping tomorrow. Beets still haven't emerged... Same with the kohlrabi and broccoli. I think the birds probably got them. Not super worried about it but I'll be planting broccoli starts from the big box shops now. Bummed but better than nothing.

Something is STILL nipping some of the tops off of my garlic plants. I don't think it'll hurt them much so I'm not going to worry about it. They continue growing.

I put 10 eggs from my biggest New Hampshire pullet in my new incubator Oct. 17. Today all 10 have hatched. One of them took its time and crawled out of the shell a few minutes ago. The rest hatched this morning.

Good looking meat birds.

Babies first day out of brooder. I don't think the youngest brown chick with white wings can fly up the high perch yet. I put a shorter perch inside for him to figure it out. I will selective breed the blue legged ones until they come out all white with blue legs.

Thanks, but they're dual purpose actually. Mama is a great egg layer so far, laying 5 or 6 extra large eggs a week. Plus she was a fast growing chick that grew much bigger than her "sister" pullets that lay medium to large size eggs. The males will be meaties unless one is a fast grower that I'll save for breeding.
