What did you do in the garden today?

Chick update, 2 weeks old today.

I also banded and weighed the chicks today, with weights ranging from 122 grams to 157 grams. When they reach laying age I'll use the largest ones for breeding the third generation. I think I need to start saving more eggs to hatch so I'll have more to choose from for breeding stock.

I picked a bunch of Rattlesnake green beans and Cherokee wax beans, a few tomatoes, three eggplants, some broccoli shoots, and jalapenos. Pretty happy with today's harvest!

Its 20 degrees here 🥶 my garden has been done for over a month now 😭

But am already planning out whats going where for the spring!! Which here, is late May 🙄 haha

Trying to decide whether I want to take up a huge 8 by 8 foot raised bed for pumpkins if I dont really plan to grow pie pumpkins but more ornamental to decorate with and sell at my farm stand and for the vibes🎃 😂 but am conflicted with taking up that much bed space for something that isnt going to be eaten (the chickens will eat them after Halloween if I decorate with them)

Most of them except the really big ones can be grown on a cattle panel arch over the raised beds. Use an onion sack or some kind of sling once they get big, to hold them up.

Grow ornamentals that can be eaten. I bought 2 to eat from the ornamental bin after Halloween for 75% off.

Yep I have a 16 foot cattle panel over that bed and that's the plan, I grow alot of my stuff vertically as I'm a raised bed gal. Just conflicted about not using that space for more regular food stuff but also love a little pumpkin patch haha
