What did you do in the garden today?

It depends on how you define „cheap“ healthcare, a family I know have 2 grown up kids and they pay around 1800€ for 4 people, private insurance, that is not cheap im my opinion 🤔
Is that a month?

They passed a law here years ago (obamacare) that forces everyone to have health insurance whether you want it or not. I had to pay a fine to the government every single year on my taxes because I refused to pay for something I didn't want/use. Now I'm on social security which provides hospital care free, but not doctors unless you pay the government a couple hundred dollars a month out of your social security. Thank goodness when I first signed up there was an option not to sign up for the doctor part. It pisses me off to no end to be forced to pay for something I don't want or need. Here, of all places, the land of the free?

Same here. Hubby and I see him once a year for our annual physical. If he sees something then, we'll discuss it then. If we need to pursue it, we will. If it's just something to keep an eye on, we will.

Thank goodness our doc is NOT a pill pusher. He understands that hubby and I do NOT want to be on pills unless absolutely necessary. Hubby has one that he will need to take the rest of his life. I have no prescription meds, and I plan to keep it that way.

Who is most responsible for my health? ME.
Then to make his kickback, he'll recommend a flu shot, a Wu-flu shot, and either a colonoscopy or cologuard. It's all about the Benjamins.

5 out of 9 so far...

We had rain all week. Lots of heavy rain and flooding yesterday. Tornado touched down on Niihau. Unusual for us. Garden did well.

Had to harvest some tomatoes early. Thinned the lettuce this morning and processed the soursop. Picked a bouquet for a graveyard visit later today. The sun is out and all is fresh. Much needed rain.

I give up what are those green things.? In the basket. Those tomatoes look so good when it's two degrees out here.

Soursop. They have a sweet and tart melt in your mouth flavor. The seeds are large to spit out. One of my favorite fruits but you cannot find in stores, least not readily available in American stores to my knowledge. From harvest to ripe is just a few days and they don't travel well. The leaves are supposed to be ... helpful, or a cure for cancer. I have not needed to test that theory myself so take that for what it is worth. I planted the trees for shade and food. Nice tree if you live tropical climate. Sometimes my tree grows cats!

I admire your gardens greatly when I am hiding from the sun in summer. I cant believe all of the variety you folks are able to grow. I can't grow anything well in the summers here. Too much heat stress and bugs though I may try again with wicking beds and shady locations. 🤞🌱
