Another successful hatch, nine chicks out of nine eggs. I'm not sure if the RIR cockerel fathered any. Maybe it'll be more obvious later. Right now it looks like the NH cockerel did all the work.

A little sore this morning due to yesterday's activities. It was sunny and 37. Spent a lot of time outside doing things. Cloudy days ahead and a bit warmer. Seed catalogs are arriving. Browsed a little bit.

Oh my goodness!!!!! Have they ever thought of just putting that amount in the bank, and if anything happened pay it out of that money themselves? Or are they sickly where they always need to go to medical facilities? Forgive my ignorance on how these things work, but that just seems outrageous to pay that much each month for insurance.

Yeah, at some point self-insuring seems like a plausible approach but unless you’re really wealthy one unexpected health incident can ruin you.

Some hospitals, probably most actually, charge like $500-$2000 or more per DAY just for being there let alone the actual services, etc. so yeah… you could be wiped out with just ONE stay.
