What did you do in the garden today?

I started cleaning the weeds from the garden beds today. The chickens are enjoying them.

I'm going to take it easy with the gardening this season and direct seed everything in the garden, tomatoes included. No seeds started indoors. I had three tomato plants last year that were direct seeded and they did well.

I'm the opposite this year haha I almost always direct seed and this year I'm trying starting inside and I think next year I may go back to direct seed unless I notice an incredible difference in harvest yields this season, as I am remembering now why i liked direct sowing so much while I do have a short growing season, I have always been very successful with direct seeding as well!

Pulled weeds today. Trying to beat the seeding of the brome grasses and whatever the purple flowing curling tail seed plant is. I've cut down the population pretty good but I know I'll miss some.

Spent most of the day getting things ready for funeral processions for my DHs Grandpa.

We're going to Ridgecrest tomorrow for the viewing and funeral. The funeral is Friday, the day before DH birthday. We're taking our camper and going to camp with the family since we'll all be together. Try to make some good out of it all.
