Well, Stanley was a holy terror yesterday. The terrible teens are definitely here full force! Basically he spent the entire day trying to mate with anything that moved - including Grace. She's so traumatised by the experience she's now refusing to leave the house. Unless, having been humped by a cockerel half her size, it's her street cred she's worried about?
He even tried it on with his dad! That earned him a thorough wing slapping, wattle nip and chase round the run for good measure. Ferdy had to keep an eye on him all day, which he obviously found exhausting as he fell asleep on me within minutes last night. Unless I'm just boring?
Gladys is coming back into lay so she squatted for me yesterday. Stanley, never one to miss an opportunity, decided to sneak under my hand and mount her. Gladys went nuts once she realised what had happened and took off with him on her back. She then threw him over her head. Honestly, it was like watching chicken rodeo
We also caught our ninth rat. DH took it to the release site and rang me to say the rat was stuck in the trap and he couldn't get it out. It had tried to squeeze out through the bars and got stuck by the hind legs. Anyways, I told it to bring it home and I'd try to get it out. Took me all of 30 seconds (he was trying to twist the wrong bars) so now he thinks I'm some kind of rat taming genius as I did it without gloves and didn't get bitten. Poor rat's legs were blue from cut off circulation so I gave them a little massage to help it on it's way. Trouble is, we now have a rat in the garden who'll never go near a trap again so won't ever be caught.
