What did you do with your flock today?

Gave her Valbazen. She is drinking.
Terrific. I would hold off on the corid myself. Hopefully she has some improvement and you will know you are headed in the right direction, be a good time to dose your whole flock. If she does have improvement give her a second dose 7-10 days. After that I'd give her probiotics to settle their bellies.
If you still have concerns you can give the whole flock corid in their water but do give it a few weeks after her last valbazen dose unless she is going down.
Now, if she looks worse in the morning then I would direct dose her with .2mils corid then add to water with the whole flock for the 3 days. I would stay as far away as I could from mixing the 2 meds but unless you do a fecal float it is a guessing game.
The guess is she has never been de wormed, is 1.5 years old and has some resistance to the parasites in your dirt. :fl :fl :fl she does look very sick and we are just guessing at this point.
If she does not start eating I would syringe feed her. 10 mils 3x per day minimum. I like to use a protein powder and add vits etc but being you are trying to kill worms I'd hold off on vits for a day or 2. Just make sure she does not starve to death and 30mils is minimum per day is min to get her by.

I'm so sorry. Didn't see this until just now due to our time differences. Looks like everyone has it in hand though. How is she doing today?

The only thing I would add though, is if it is coccidiosis and you have to treat for it, don't give any B vits while you are treating with coccidiosis meds. As Vata Raven said, it works by mimicking thiamine, the cocci protozoa ingest thiamine to survive so they are 'tricked' into eating the amprolium which causes them to stave and die. Amprolium has a very small margin of error for overdose which is why you must not give any B vitamins at the same time.
Hopefully the de-wormer you have given will do the trick.
There are a couple of other causes which may be applicable but we'll see how she does, no point overwhelming her with drugs.

Excellent advice, Tropical Babies. I'd second all that. Keep an eye on her fluid intake too.

Chickens any age can get coccidiosis but it's much more prevalent in chicks until they build immunity. In very wet and humid conditions the protozoa can proliferate and overwhelm older chickens too.

If she has worms, you may start to see adults expelled as they're killed by the medication. You might not but if she has a high enough load to make her so sick, it's possible.

Strange question. Does this mean we can safely trim them off without fear of it bleeding?
Guess I didn't post bout the spurs...
Any info is helpful regarding them...I had watched a video of a farm couple actually removing the spur and the rooster didn't even flinch so really curious if it has feeling in it. From what I have read they do grow back like nails do.
Just got my exam results...

I got a Pass with Distinction which is 70% or more according to RCVS assessment and award regs. Just 3 more exams to do...

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. They obviously did the trick!
Whoohoo!!! A BIG congratulations!!!

Yes we are good! I seen where someone else asked about the storms we were getting but I forgot to respond. Things are super crazy. There was 2 the hit in a town not far from us. They were close together, and at one point looked like they combined. We ended up bringing down both brooders, chickens and duck (which I think they all need a diet, they are ridiculous heavy 🤣), yo be close to the basement door so if we had to go in fast we could. I wasn’t prepared for it, otherwise my goats would have been in here and my 2 broody hens. We last had heard that they weren’t expecting anything out of it and it was going to be scattered. 🙄 We even watched the radar and seen it miss us all together. My husband wanted to get some stuff down outside and I told him I didn’t think it was a good idea. He even made the statement it was going to miss us. I responded with “And how many times has it been completely wrong.” Of course it was wrong. The tornado ended up hitting a town my family is in. One family member got hit real hard. I don’t know how bad yet. But everyone is ok. We aren’t cool enough though to make news on like the Today show. 😒 The Quad Cities is about an hour away though…
Sounds like a scary time! Glad it missed you and hope your family didn't get hit to hard. :hugs
@maidenwonderland @Vata Raven @Mr Spot @Vanakrishna
Great to see you join in!

My internet is so slow I feel like I have dial up. DH's setting were off on his phone again so he used all of our data while on vacation, to counter, he switched our plan to use no more data while our cycle timed out and well.... 🐌🐌🐌 I'd prefer if he just left his phone at home but I will save my breath and exercise my patience.

@ChicksnMore looks like we are having coffee together.
bathroom remodel? Do tell & lucky you. My Nancy would be beside himself.
I moved the couch while he was gone (we really need better functioning furniture bad!) And he is beside himself 😂
Well, youngest manged to pull the mirror off the medicine cabinet...no idea how she managed that. So decided to hang two new ones...one for each sink. And while I'm at it I want to move the towel bar and add tile to the sides and base of the cabinet, just because it's looking old and the sides are some cheap press board made to look like wood. Would like to change the light fixture over the cabinets too but not sure I'm up to doing any electrical work. I'll get the rest done and then decide on the lights. Might hire someone for that if I really want it. The counter top has a chip and crack too from the mirror hitting it and I don't want to replace the whole thing, but not sure what I want to do about that yet. Our old neighbor that I walk with fixed his by tiling over it and it came out beautiful...so maybe.
I let Koke'e roo out of roo pen and into garden yesterday. All was well till I went in to make lunch and was gone for 20 minutes... seems he and Spider got stuck in a rut of fighting at the fence. Both dummies were bruised and bloody so had to clean and doctor them up. Spider lost his spur but has his nub so will grow back (not completely unhappy about that one). It seems he is feeling the worse for it, Koke'e boy seems fine 🤦‍♀️ obviously Spider is not the young buck that he was just last year. Well, he is my love and I enjoyed my time cleaning him up. Be easier if he did not feel the need to fight at the fence forsure.View attachment 3456350
Good news is person is still interested in Koke'e boy and hope to do a hand off next week. Hope he heals up quick... lol
Roosters can be so silly. Glad you have a place for that lucky boy!
My shower has a hand held attachment with a long hose and a concentrated stream setting. Four fingers work a little on the other hand. Had to put hand in a long plastic bag, but it was good enough to steady the hose. She just stood still facing the right way for me to direct the water, which loosened most of the poop and dirt cement. Then used good hand to get the rest off. After that I trimmed her up while wet, then DH came to take her out of the bath onto a towel on the floor, dried, the back out she went.
Hand's getting less swollen, and have more mobility each day, but cannot get it wet for 5 more weeks, and the thumb is immobilized. It's my dominant hand. Where there's a will, there's a way, a then there are friends and family.
Very ambitious there! Glad it went well ❤️
Better every day, thanks! Should be back to better by the time our trip commences next month.
Where you headed?
Strange question. Does this mean we can safely trim them off without fear of it bleeding?
Spurs can be twisted off if needed. I leave em alone though unless there's a problem.
Help! @Shetland lover and anyone else. My Brahma that I just cleaned off yesterday is not well. Her poop is watery, and now some reddish pink staining, urate threads. See photo. She just shot this out. She isn't interested in eating. Has drank water. I have her inside. She is lethargic, separated herself from flock yesterday and this morning. Her crop was pretty empty except for the water she drank, and a little gas which came up when I massaged it. Nothing hard in her belly. Eyes, nares, vent look normal. She had some Greek yogurt and a little bit of cracked corn last night, but hasn't eaten since. She is 1.5 years old.
How should I proceed with treatments, what kind? I have amprolium, albendazole, fenbendazole. Her water is an electrolyte solution.

I'll cross-post in emergencies.View attachment 3456810

Congrats 🎉🎉🎉 and well done!

It actually did freeze the other night. When I checked over my plants I found my cuban oregano that I'd tucked under a pomegranate took a little freeze damage. Not enough to kill it though ❤️ Forecast says we'll be in the eighties day and 60s nights soon though so time to set up our outdoor bed. I love sleeping outside so much, so 60s warm enough 😁.
Visited a friend yesterday. Get such a laugh out of watching her with her chickens. Two of her roos were squabbling, so she scoops one up and starts petting away. The other jumped into her lap and next thing both the roos that were fighting are pressed flat side by side and getting a petting massage. 🤣. It was really adorable. If I tried that with my chickens they'd panic, but with hers they're so chill about it!

@Shetland lover a BIG congratulations to you! That must feel terrific ♡♡♡ glad you mentioned the fluids and doing it all in the queens English. Eveything sounds clear and concise coming from you 😂💕 Thank you for all you do!

@ChicksnMore good idea and good fun on the bathroom. Would love before and after photos 😉😉.
You paint such lovely pictures of your adventures.. it is so fun to adventure along with you.

@Gammas Bearded Babies I too leave the spurs alone. I feel mine need them every now and then and I would hate to take away their defenses unless hurting the girls. I have not had troubles like @Liz Birdlover has had. I know you can take a dremmel to them to soften the tip. I though of siliconing a cap to the tip if needed. They can bleed so keep corn starch available if trimming.
Spider lost one of his spurs in a fight years ago. It did hurt him as he seemed in pain for a few days but it healed up and never grew back. This one he just lost also caused him pain. He had a slight hitch in his giddy up but seemed pretty good by the next morning. The curving of the spur seems to help not hurt the ladies but was also not close to growing into his leg either.
