Today I made up mash feed for everyone. (Crumble feed in water) let everyone out of the main coop for the day.

Was going to spend they with them when I got back from a store run. Was going to put time into another coop/pen I have going up. But that got put on hold due to a migraine of a tension/sinus headache I can't get rid of. Then it rained and the power went out.

Headache is still with me but the power is back on. Maybe tomorrow I'll put good time into the coop/pen.

So we've had a couple of chicklets flying the coop, daily. I strung up aviary netting so they cannot fly up on the run, but, lo and behold, the same girl gets up there and taunts me. She got out, and I spent a good while trying to net her, to no avail. I want to clip her wings. Maybe at night....
They got non perfect raspberries today, which they love. Velma is mixing more with them, but still keeps her distance, wisely. I still have to feed her either at night in her coop, or after the others have gone in to the main coop. I can pet her some, and she follows me when she knows I am going to feed her.
On another note, I think Pepper is the one eating eggs. There was one on the run floor and she was going to start pecking at it. I quickly retrieved it, but later found egg white in one of the boxes.

They are actually kind of on the smaller side as the ferals are almost bantamesq. Always fun to find a nest. If it was a fresh nest I would have robbed it and fed it to my human for breakfast.
Funny how the rats don't eat them...

On the subject of rats, we caught 21 last week! Mostly babies but even so....

Ooh yes! I might make some today and try out my gooseberry, white currant and elderflower jam. Mind you, DH is threatening to make a key lime pie later

Got my tinkering done early this morning. Knobs, hardwarecloth, locks etc. Mini coop was even approved.

This eve the flock was treated to free range for their first time since arrival

I sat out with my friends for about 1.5 hours.

Live, humane traps baited with the remains of the chickens' tea! Oh, and we're being scrupulous about cleaning up every scrap of spilled feed etc and stopping up any new holes as soon as they appear.
