One of my roosters is quick and efficient like that and right after he’s done he makes a loud yell like “I’m awesome” and then walks away…it’s very meathead at the gym lifting weights

Roos get such a poor deal all round. The egg industry puts them in industrial mincers at a day old, they get abandoned or bought to fight illegally with... Or, like you say, unscrupulous people obtain them to eat with no thought for the bird's welfare. It's different, of course, if you're raising them yourself for meat.
At least things are slowly changing this side of the pond. The German egg industry now uses laser technology to sex eggs at just a couple of days development so male eggs are diverted to the food industry when the cells have barely divided. France has started to use it too and the EU is soon to make it mandatory.
The sooner this tech becomes available to backyard keepers, the better IMHO.

Gosh, wouldn't that be a good god send.
Back in the day, not too long ago, when I was busy being me and all I thought about is what I could get from life, these things would nor have concerned me. I never enjoyed a lot of meat, so there for thought I was doing my part. But yeah, the mind set of kill what I like when I like is exhausting. I know it has to be done but glad we are evolving into thoughtful, responsible beings... for the most part

Busy couple of days for me.

After searching for Mochi high and low all morning, noon and night, I startled awake from a dream of a cat meowing at almost 12 straight up. I jumped out of bed and went outside in the dark forest and started calling for Mochi again... and he responded ♡♡♡♡ I then made my way to him and scooped him up. He spent the day napping after much to eat that early morning.View attachment 3585889
Last eve I rode down the hill as I was scheduled to do some trapping for KCCP. I made my dh a nice big pot of pretty yummy spaghetti and then took off to do my thing. I spent about 2-3 hours trapping at nice man's house. I was only allowed 4 spots for spay and neuter last night. I got 4, was thinking one kitten may be too young so set a few traps near my house and caught the tom I have been wanting to get and fixed forever. He just went in for surgery about an hour ago. Sooooo happy ♡♡♡

Also, nice man's cat colony is really sick so KCCP was able to diagnose, medicate and will provide me with the antibiotics and flea drops to treat the whole colony. I just gotta ride down the hill everyday for the next 5 days to do it. hehehe. Ok 🏍

Well, my rooftop layer seems to be putting them in the nest boxes again, yippee. And even though girls have slowed laying, I still have another 6 dozen to take down the hill.

I did not freerange the gang today because they have basically been being bad and just hanging out tramping the garden instead of wandering and chomping till their hearts delight. Kind of defeats the whole freerange thing and I don't want to spend the whole 1-3 hours shooing them so they don't flatten and kill everytlivinggreenthing in the front garden. Plus needed catch up nap.

Tonights trapping got canceled due to vets not able to get to all 50+ cats today and mine being delayed. So. That is ok. Next time right? Happy to just hang up here with all of my sweeties.

Special day!!! Heard some chirping that sounded younger than my chicks.... could it be broody momster on the roof clutch has hatched???!!! Yep.

After getting full on attacked by that momster, I was able to get food and water up to her. Babies were not going to come down yet, or, if they did it would lead to injury or worse. It is a hard living up here and most moms don't get large hatches. She has the benefit of.... well, a chicken servant.

She calmed quickly with a bite to eat and assembled her clutch.
Now, it is time for @kurby22 's favorite game...!

Such fun pictures! Feral momma knew what she was doing when she picked your coop roof to nest . Are you going to try to help the babies down or just put food and water up there for them? Wonder if momma's worrying about how to safely get them down yet.
