What did you do with your flock today?

Another Halloween is in the books! “Exhausted chicken keeper” was my “costume” 😆 And we had to stop at the scary house down the block from our house on the way home! Happy to be done, it’s been a LONG day 🤪

I decided to try the pumpkin challenge with some sugar pie pumpkins 🎃

Leggy is ready to defend the flock from the scary orange blob!!

Mine got pureed pumpkin with toasted seeds yesterday (I know, spoiled rotten). Stanley took one look at in the dish and ran away squawking in terror! He really is a ridiculous bird at times 🤣

Hard on them when the weather flips suddenly. It's not winter here yet but we've had a really cold wind blowing all day for a couple of days now. I put up some sheets of plywood in the runs yesterday to help them out and I'll put a few more up today. My coops are small and my birds spend more time in the runs no matter how cold we get. Not that we get very cold 😂...but it feels cold if your used to temps in the 100's.
It's suddenly turned cold here too. Snow on the hills which we don't normally get until late November. At lower levels it's just non-stop rain. My lot need webbed feet, not feathers☹

Ma says I can't go trick or treating without my cane. :( I did gather eggs today and got 14 eggs out of the pullet coop with 15 pullets in it. I seen where it is recommended not to set eggs from pullets. A year old hens is the time to start. I don't believe it now. Those pullets of mine never laid pullet eggs. I've never seen that before and the thing is there mothers didn't lay very many. There mothers were just starting to lay good when I set the eggs they were hatched from. It was cool enough to night I didn't have to lecture any one about the dumpling pot to get them on the roost. We are under a freeze and fire warning.
Did you go trick or treating? 🤭
