What did you do with your flock today?

It really is tough!

I read an article last week about costco selling beef bone treats for Dogs that have mites in them. The article said that they had been doing this for a long time!

It is sad that Hawaii is so hard to get things too also.

I have to replace one meal worm trap a month in my house and keep two out in the cupboards. I also have one out in the garage.

The moths are nearly gone but I need to go through the cupboards again to find any of the containers that are infested. I use air tight containers so they do not get out but the manage to get they eggs into them. Hopefully freezing will finally get rid of them!

Our climate is not as mild as yours, but it is very mild here! We almost never have a freeze.

Yeah, I am a container person too. We get all kinds of things wanting to snack on our food stores. :sick My DH told me he found a mouse in the chicken feed bin. I'm like well did you leave the lid off? and he is like no, never, but I do take a scoop and feed the boys and it takes me a few minutes to put the lid back on... :hmm Well, mystery solved as far as I am concerned. Good thing I spent $40 dollars on that food safe container lol.

That is how the meal worms get into the air tight containers. The moth lays eggs that you cannot see at the seal and then the egg falls in when you open the lid.

They can get in but not out. I have had them in spices, raisins and etc. too.

Yesterday I broke down one of the old coops that couldn’t be used anymore. It was a temporary prefab I used for the Polish hens until I could get them moved to somewhere bigger, and oh boy, how it lasted as long as it did I have no idea. The run door was broken and almost unusable, and while I was unscrewing the coop itself, the metal was bending everywhere. I’m glad to have it gone.
Now that out of here, I can finally start expanding the SFs run. I don’t know how much bigger it’ll be, but even a little is better than nothing.

My free range birds were all very excited to scratch around in the open spot. Even Iris, who never really scratched much even before his bumble, was going crazy. Not great pic, but the best I could do with how active they were.

Irene is fully broody now, so today I locked her up in a spare run with food and water, at least until the other girls lay. She and Beckett have been in the early/middle stages of being broody (although to be fair, Becky’s always like that XD) for about a week now, so it was only a matter of time. I’m hoping to get her broken before it’s too hot.

and then I got some more pictures that I don’t think I’ve posted here yet.

Hi gang!
Traveled back down the mountain for the MIL visit. Brought chicks down as I have a few (almost 20) more sold and also brought down 2 Buff Brahma's to keep Ivan company and hopefully they will do some, ahem, bonding ;);) :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy. I did not get any BB's this last hatch and am even more thrilled that I still have most of the BB's from last hatch.

I brought up Bolt to help keep the feral roo at bay and after his days of lock up I let Bolt out to which the feral promptly scared him into the forest and beat him up. It took me 2 hours of hiking in knee high tree fall to find him, hiding and bleeding.
I did "take out" the feral after that and for that I feel bad. I wish I would have tried harder at trapping and removing him. He was not a bad guy, I just did not want a repeat.

Bolt before he got beat up :hithe is actually ok. Wounded pride, a bald spot on the back of his head and a bruised comb.
