What did you do with your flock today?

Took pictures of some young ones while they were eating their bedtime mash. Sweet babies. They got their dirt flipped today and I tossed a little straw around for them to play with.

It's plastic instead of metal, but still think I need to add more ventilation holes. I only added two fairly good size holes...so I'll have to watch it close when the temps soar.
Definitely. I'm so glad such high temps aren't something I have to deal with routinely over here. At least being plastic it shouldn't heat up as bad as metal would.

My poor chickens didn't get any time in the great out-of-doors today (but they did yesterday evening, so I don't feel so bad for them). I chopped up leaf lettuce, romaine, cabbage, tomatoes and a few kiwi fruit this morning and dumped it in the day run before I opened it up to the girls. Seems like they ate most of it by the time I locked them up into the night run.

Since their eggs have been nice and solid lately I haven't been giving them their usual supplemental egg shells much lately. But this evening I went ahead and mixed about 1/4 cup of eggshells with scratch grains and gave it to them.

The seven chickens have been averaging 6 eggs a day all winter long, and I can just about keep up with eating them all. I think I have 9 extra eggs accumulated right now, but I guess it's good to have some backup!
Wow! I haven't had an egg all winter from my freeloading slackers 🤣

Set my new future babies today and brought my 7 week old ones out to play as the temps were good at 60 and sunny they loved it! And played with my 9 day old babies. Oh and hung out with my other girls. I just started in April of this year and I think I have truly become the Crazy Chicken lady lol

Beautiful flock and littles 😍! Remember it's only crazy if they're causing excessive problems....looks to me like you're in the Happy Chicken lady zone 😉🥰😂

One of our pullets that we hatched from our flock of RIR's laid a 3 1/8 oz egg today. That's 5/8 oz over jumbo. Most of their eggs today were at least EX Large. We are going to set some of these huge eggs and see just how well those pullets lay if they hatch. All long as they candled a single yolk they get a chance.
