My kids were born 5th gen So California native. I always say I’m going to move, but this place is literally in my blood. I hate most of the politics & the mentality of a lot of the people, but the weather is pretty close to perfect & when I leave here I get homesick for it. Most of my extended family & friends have long since moved. I still search Zillow listings all over the US, but I know I’m not going anywhere. It’s hard to explain, San Diego just feels like ‘home’. :idunno
It is similar here! My children are 5th Generation Californians and I am fourth generation.

My middle Daughter lives in Finland but the other two are still in Californai.

Never thought of it generation wise. I was first gen and dug out at 15 lol. California is a beautiful state for the most part, cake and eat it too. I enjoy visits but good to come back to Hi.

Thank you! I do love all their diluted shades. Although I do have one black girl that is just amazing when the sun shines on her feathers. Iridescent greens and purples that cameras just don’t capture well. So I’m coming around to other colors haha. Sapphire Gems are so pretty! I have a friend with a couple and they’re super sweet birds!
That sounds so pretty! I’ve got a couple black birds. They really are beautiful in the sun!
Yeah, my sapphire gems are pretty high on my favorite breed list. They’re so big and fluffy, and their eggs are huge! Not to mention they lay almost everyday. I’d definitely recommend them. :3

Congrats! Did any more hatch yet?
Built a ladder on top of my ladder so the 6 week olds can get up to the observation tower easier :)
That looks great!

I wormed 13 of my chickens today. The other six are in runs, so I think they’ll be fine, but tomorrow morning I’ll check the coops for any worms when I clean them.
It took forever, but it could’ve been harder. They each got their dose in the catio, and since the meds were put in a little bit of scrambled eggs, I didn’t have to do much. They’re all very snack motivated, so I only had to grab 2-3 of them, and the rest ran in there themselves.

Elphie had some issues because she can’t eat eggs, so I put her dose in a little bit of oatmeal. Aside from that, I had no issues and only had to supervise them. It took about an hour, which is a lot quicker than if I had to shoot it down their throats.

After everyone was done with their meds, I found five of them in a clump. Iris never bathes, so I guess the meds are working. XD /j

Iris is officially off of the antibiotics. I don’t see a difference, but seeing as most of it is internal, I’m hoping it’s just taking a little bit to start working.

And last of all, some of my birds started molting a couple of weeks ago. Normally they start in the middle of July, so I don’t know why they’re so late this year.
Yen is looking so good! I didn’t realize just how stained her and Gary’s feathers were until the new ones started growing in. I can’t wait until they’re done growing in so I can take a picture. She looks almost purple now. 😍

I love the chicken pile! It’s so cute when they’re all big and floofy and still cram together in a pile 😍

My babies had to spend most of today locked up in their coop, and it was HOT today (ick!!). So I have them ice packs, watermelon, watercress, and turned on the misters this afternoon. I can’t imagine being all covered in feathers when it’s 102 outside! 🥵🥵
