What did you do with your flock today?

So glad to hear Onyx is almost through her moult and back to normal!
Those plums look divine. What variety are they? I only have a Victoria and a Mirabelle plum currently but I'm looking to add a greengage in the autumn.
Believe it or not, it's been mostly dry and sunny here after all our rain. Too late for several of our crops to catch up but given the awful start of the season, I'm not complaining.
These are Shiro Asian plums. I also have Beauty Asian plums,

which are red. Dry and sunny is great, as it is here. Just lovely, but we usually expect showers by mid August on a "normal" year. Remains to be seen.

Well, Dora the explorer was seen flying up onto the roof of the coop, and contemplating where she would go next. I hurried out with the oatmeal container, and threw some to the other girls inside. She quickly came down and ran toward me on the outside of the fence. Of course she avoided me and went opposite me and the now open gate, so I had to switch sides and throw more oats into the gate opening. She finally went in. Naughty girl!
Is it unusual for a chicken to seem to be constantly complaining about something for a long period of time every morning? Dora does this every day! I may have to clip her wings if she keeps flying where she shouldn't, or try somehow to put up more overhead fencing.
Happily, every nesting box is being used. All 5, plus one girl insists on making her own little nest on the floor where she's been laying nice blue double yolk whoppers. They are 22 weeks. All laying. Yay!

I lost Karamel this morning. Extremely sudden. Only thing that stood out is that she kept not going into the coop at night since we started treating the coop for bloodlice. She is, or well was, practically blind in one of her eyes. Thought maybe the scent of the insecticide threw her off. Either way, I'm just devastated. Doesn't feel real. In this picture I took her into the shower with me while drunk... I toweled her off first immediately when I realized what I was doing. She must've hated me back then.

One of my Dominique hens is ailing. I'm treating her for a probable crop impaction, but she's also lost weight. Lydia is the quiet one, though she talks to me in an endearing soft honk.

Zacchaeus took exception to me giving Lydia olive oil when she objected. He fussed, about 18" away. Even though he's not yet a rooster and the hens pick at him he seems to be showing signs of growing up. He's 4 months old.

When I went in later to check on Lydia Zack came over and pecked my feet. I just stood there. He gave up in less than a minute. I think he was showing his displeasure of my treatment of Lydia, and I spoiled it by not reacting.

I'm going to check on Lydia once it lightens up.

Hello! This is a place to post pictures/talk about what you and your flock have done today.

I was on a zoom call earlier and Iris, my rooster, decided to stand behind me and crow repeatedly. Thankfully I was on mute, but it was still annoying. They couldn’t see him, but they could see me trying to make him quiet, which was a little embarrassing.
Here’s a pic of my boy with some mini roses.

I took pictures of my chickens, went and got them some chicken feed, organized their chicken corner in the garage, gave them some scratch and hung out with them…

I hope the olive oil has done the trick and Lydia is back to normal.
Zack is shaping up to be a good little roo. And he's looking so handsome there!
